you can do that without fiberglass. ABS plastic dissolves in acetone. instead of using fiberglass you cut a piece of ABS plastic (typical bumper, the harder brittle pieces of plastic used in the interior are in ABS) into small pieces and put in a glass jar, cover it with pure acetone. Close the jar tightly. In 12 to 24 hours, you will get a liquid plastic. If it is to liquid leave the jar open until you reach the desired consistency and apply like you would have done with epoxide. Clean the area that needs to be repaired with acetone before you apply it. I let it sit and harden for 2 days to be sure that is full strength.

This is very informative. Thanks! I tapped a snow bank in 5 degree weather that caused the lower bumper to crack. It's currently in the right place but to prevent it from coming undone, I might do this procedure.

the 4 or 5 guys having an OCD attack about this being a viable professional repair.... this was a DIY to save a Cracked beated up bumper on a car that probably won't last another 2 yrs.... So why would anyone want to fork out 300 dollars for an unpainted bumper and have it primed and painted for another 200 and 20 bucks in clips cause u have to special order them as no one locally has them ready on the shelf to buy... This repair if done right will last longer than the remaining life of the car... only thing i would do differently is id prep the entire bumper and paint and primer it completely. I keep a Pint of my car's matching color and a compressor and gun in my garage just cause.... u never know....

Thermopolystyrene resin with organic peroxide catlyst hardner IS plastic.Used in Bondo with talc.Used in cultured marble with ground limestone sand.Used with fiberglass is woven roving, mat or from a chopper gun, sprayed onto a mold..It absolutely does bond with plastic although with certain styrene plastics it can distort or melt the plastic as it hardens.

Need to use filler primer and sand entire bumper with 400-600 grit. Use a real 2 part clear coat. If using a rattle can use “spray max 2k” with activator. The urethane clear coat will keep the base coat protected and it will look nice. Also, don’t use fiberglass, use epoxy
