If it is the same type battery, it does not hurt the bike. I have removed mine like this several times. If something did happen, the cradles are replaceable, but it should come off no problem. Hope that helps

My bike got stolen a week ago luckily the cops found it but the thief left a new battery on it without the key ofcourse.. Unfortunately the cops couldn’t help but give me the bike back and leave that problem to me This helped me a lot thank you

The only secure method for a battery is to take it with you, as if they want the battery they will just tear off the cradle and cut the wires. It is scary how easy it is. Basically the key just keeps the battery from falling off while riding.

The first thing I did when I bought my bike was had 2 new keys made, that pin keeps your battery from popping off your bike when riding in rough terrain, is the h8 as easy to pick the lock?

Good idea. The H8 has the same type cradle, so I would assume it would be just as easy, but I have not tried. In fact, I have not removed my battery since I installed it. I had to move the cradle down to get mine in, and since I only have the one battery I have just left it in place. It may be a little harder because the battery is so big, but I suspect the process would be the same. Hope that helps :)

Does any know if there is the same option to unlock Bosch Powerpack rack battery without a key ? The locker is damaged and the key cannot be inserted.

Most bikes you can charge on the bike. My wife has 3600 miles on hers and we never remove it. Some bikes have ignition key, but most do not. So as long as you can turn it in you can ride without the keys. Hope that helps😊

What if the key lock component is housed separately such that when the top cover four screws are removed, the key lock component is residing in a separate compartment housed in plastic cover adjacent to the main plastic casing? And battery is slided into the battery holder bracket of the ebike?

Yeah, this method only works for cradle mounted batteries.

My problem is the exact opposite...I can't secure the lock on my battery...Not sure why, but I had an ugly wipe-out last week which may have loosened something...

Sorry to hear you wiped out, hope you are ok. I sometimes try to put my battery on too high. It will catch but not be on all the way on.

I went ahead and added the link for you. It is the first one in the description. If you have a standard type battery lock this should work for you and it is a 2 pack so you will have an extra. Hope that helps :) If your bike has a polly type battery let me know and I will steer you in the right direction.

The link seems to be working from this end, however it looks like your battery is a different type. Yours looks more like a silverfish type, but you would need to remove it to make sure. If so you can find them by doing a search on Amazon for "silverfish ebike battery key" It pulls up several that may work, but you will need to match them up. Hope that helps : )

Basically just bending the cradle until there is enough room for the pin to slide over as the pin will not move. Most of these cradles you can bend enough to get them off. Cradles are very easy to replace, so if bad comes to worse and it breaks, at least the battery will be off and you can make the switch. But I have not heard of anyone breaking it, so you should be able to get it off with no problems. I hope that helps, and good luck : )

I think that model has an upright battery, so I think it would be a different process, sorry

I've lost keys to the battery lock and the bike ignition. I know I can change the lock cylinder but not sure about the ignition. Any ideas on how I can deal with the lost ignition key. It's a Lifecycle classic 2011 model? Thanks

I am not familiar with that model, but I would think any ignition key could be replaced as well. I wish I could be of more help but they are all a little different.

Here is a link to a video that shows how to take apart your case: kzread.info/dash/bejne/a2uuq6-icdOtqZs.html Once your case is apart there are 2 screws that hold on the key lock. Remove those and replace it with your lock and reassemble. I hope that helps 😀

Or they had a key, I think there is only a few different ones and some are masters. I guess if you look on the bright side, they did not tear out your cradle. That is how most of them get taken and then they are damaged and must be repaired. Hopefully you can get another battery and get going again.

Yeah, the lock is really only there to hold the battery on when riding. I think most of them you could break off the cradle with your hands if you wanted the battery bad enough. Glad it worked for you. Do you need to change your lock? I just posted a video showing how to do that. Re beard: Yeah, I usually cut it every year when I am gardening because it gets too hot. This year I skipped the garden [have grow room with air LOL] So it never got cut. Now if I cut it people would not recognize me ; )

If the pin is in the out position, you can just remove the lock altogether, This video will show you how: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pYquwcWqc6jHqKQ.htmlsi=PIcAlzHaeI7rMdIm Then you will need to get velcro straps or duct tape the battery in place so it does not pop off. It is kind of a crude way of doing it, but it will get you going again. If the pin is in the in position, then you can leave the lock and just figure out a way to secure it so it does not pop off using velcro straps or duct tape. Hope that helps

I am not familiar with that model, sorry. Have you tried the manufacturer? Most of them use a certain number of keys, they may be able to get you a replacement key by having you give them the number on the lock.

I lost mine and i picked the lock in 40 seconds. All these batts are 4 pin and you can even rake them. Get a lock picking kit and it will be easy. Or contact the manufacturer for another key.

Once the battery is removed, you can remove the lock mech on the battery and exchange it for a new one.

Yeah, this is probably the most common battery type especially on your low end ebikes. The built in ones will be quite different and probably need to pick the lock to get them off. But for this type, it works well. thanks for watching

Most thieves just brake them off, the cradle actually snaps pretty easy from side force. And it is faster. The key is really only there to keep the battery from falling off during the ride.

Yeah, it is easy. The key is really only meant to keep the battery from falling off when riding. It is not to prevent someone from stealing it, I would imagine you could rip the battery off no problem with a swift kick. Most batteries are like this, so always remove when left unattended. Re Hand warmers: yes, the hand warmers are great. I can ride to about 5 degrees with just a light pair of gloves. Now if I could find something for my feet LOL.

Bummer. Yeah, they are pretty easy to get off. Most just break the cradle when they steal them. The key is basically just to hold the battery on.

When a key is used like this, Ecotric is just making things more _expensive and cumbersome_ for the ebike owner by requiring a key (have to carry a key around and worry about finding replacement for lost key even assuming Ecotric is still around by that time.) A simple reliable clamp/bracket would "keep the battery on the bike" and wouldn't require a key. Marketing tactics like this are really annoying...especially when they increase the cost of an item for little to no real benefit. By offering a key my opinion is Ecotric ends up misleading people with a marketing technique that provides a false sense of security. Owners are led to believe they have a reasonable anti-theft device for the battery. As a result many owners undoubtedly leave the battery "locked" to the ebike.

I agree, it only gives you a false sense of security. Two seconds is all I would need and the battery would be gone. But I don't think it is an Ecotric thing, all the batteries I have seen have a key. So it is more like the battery manufacturer thing. They could do the same thing with a little combo lock, then of course people would lose the combination LOL I think the key is more of a thing to keep "honest" people honest LOL
