great clip thank you. Anyone know the easiest way to prep old metal windows at my house?

That deburring tool is exactly what I need to grind an area clean for use of some panelbond. I can't see in the top lip that needs prep without use of a mirror.

Does the chemical remover method also remove paint?

How did you miss electrolysis? The basis of that is used in so many other things, like gold plating, or other plating as well.

So my wife bought me a used 2018 Silverado. It must have been from up north (we're from Dallas) as it has more undercarriage rust than we anticipated. Local mechanic said it was all surface rust. What would be the best product in your lineup for this kind of job? I plan on trying to tackle this job this spring. As I'm not very familiar with this kind of stuff I'm not sure what solution would be best? I know I'll be using a wired brush and a drill w/ wire brush attachment but not sure which chemical (acid vs convertor vs encapsulator) to use. Recommendations?

Sounds like the wire brush plus encapsulator should get you the results you're looking for. We just did that on the C10 project we have in the shop right now - similar story, old PA truck, frame was rusty but not rotted, we wire brush and encapsulated.

Is the fast etch phosphoric acid based? Just wondering if it is useful for motorcycle tanks.

Transmission fluid works amazing also for say rust under your truck from salt on the roads. It's not for something you plan on painting. It will stop the rust from doing more damage. For snow and salt you might have to do it 2 or 3 times a year. Pump sprayer or spray bottle. I have a car trailer metal deck and it was rusting away fast. So I prayed it with tranny fluid and it stopped it and I hit it 2 times a year. Try it.

Yes you could. Apply and then properly clean the fast etch off with pre painting prep, sand, and prep as if it's a normal body panel and apply top coatings.

I have a question...if you have a rusty car and you cant afford to take it to shop to do a professional job like this..what can you do. we know there is no fix it all but just to further inhibit or to hinder further rust and anything to to help out. thanks

Citric acid works well.

I work at a body shop Come on man . Small holes like that . I could have just put all purpose bondo that bonds with metal , wait till it gets hard and just sand it down . Boom ! Ready to paint in a few hours

Lowest cost system is a kiddy pool full of muriatic acid. Used to create PH balance in pools. Any damage to metal is insignificant, and the rust will be gone long before then anyway. You can save hundreds of dollars over other systems Just be sure to neutralize with simple baking soda. Try the product on a small heavily rusted part, you wont believe how well it works for around $10 a gallon.

@@KensGarage1 Took mine to one of the free household chemical disposal sites after I threw in 4 boxes of soda. I guess the rules are that they will take all chemicals that can be purchased by the general public. They wont take chems. from industry. You may want to check first. I had about 6 gallons, the pool alowed me to lay in large panels then brush over any areas that didnt immerse.

@@KensGarage1 Just neutralize it with sodium hydroxide. The result is salt water. But be carefull when doing that! It is dangerous when doing it incorrectly. I use citric acid because it is much safer. It is much slower but as effective.

Oh you really nee to turn Subtitles on for this one. Lol.

Sorry to hear that man, and like you? Very pizzed off too! VERY unsettling with the world today and lotta "people" in it.... TOO friggin lazy to work or entitled and OR completely wacked out on drugs. Yeah, even on the nicer days, I won't leave my shop doors open hardly at all, OR very long. LOTTA traffic out here on my county road and LOTTA lousy predators out there justa scoping at what everyone else has.... SMDH

Or I could just pay an mobile dustless blaster to do it for 400$ And have it done right. It takes an hour and a half.

Wire wheels don't remove heavy rust - they just polish the rust and make rust look like shiny metal.

Well as a tool manufacturer that would be kinda tough. However you can always take as much or as little information you'd like from our videos and use any product you'd like.

At what cost. Great for commercial applications. Prohibitive otherwise. I'll stay with old fashioned remedies. Rarely abide the "new and innovative" money-whoring technologies that are typically grossly overpriced.

There are tons of home-gamers using these methods. Myself included. Fast Etch is a miracle product and only costs 23.99/16 oz. The Contour SCT is 179. You can get a MIG90 welder for 250 bucks, all in. A blast cabinet is only $400. Sure, you could dunk your parts in vinegar or use electrolysis, but the pros use the methods that I mention in the video because they simply work better. -JD
