Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Rust is a problem that EVERY car enthusiast will come across at some point during their restoration. In this video JD goes over the best ways to remove rust from metal!
MORE INFO: www.eastwood.com/paints/rust-...
Eastwood Rust Dissolver removes only the rust, and won't eat-away at the metal itself. Leaves the newly de-rusted metal ready to paint, plate or powder-coat.
Gentle enough for engine parts
Reusable
Removes about 5 sq. ft. of rust per quart
It will penetrate deep into the metal dissolving the rust in a few hours. Leaves metal ready to paint, plate or powder coat. So gentle, it’s suitable for engine parts and is harmless to copper, brass, aluminum, solder, lead, plastic, rubber, seals, wood, and vinyl. Will not remove sound paint.
Liquid rust Dissolver works as long as the surface is wet. Items that cannot be fully immersed due to size can be placed in the discharge stream of a commonly available small pump. One gallon de-rusts about 20 square feet of metal. The gel adheres to vertical surfaces and dissolves rust without having to submerse the metal in a tub or bucket. Ideal for quarter-panels, fenders and other vertical surfaces.

    Hi. I've watched so many of your videos primarily focusing on frame rust repair and welding. I took autobody and welding in high school over two decades ago and haven't been involved in the work since. I just bought an old 80 C10 patina and feel confident thru watching your videos to refresh my memory on body work, paint, rust repair and welding. Thanks for the videos, please keep them coming. So my wife bought me a used 2018 Silverado. It must have been from up north (we're from Dallas) as it has more undercarriage rust than we anticipated. Local mechanic said it was all surface rust. What would be the best product in your lineup for this kind of job? I plan on trying to tackle this job this spring. As I'm not very familiar with this kind of stuff I'm not sure what solution would be best? I know I'll be using a wired brush and a drill w/ wire brush attachment but not sure which chemical (acid vs convertor vs encapsulator) to use. Recommendations?

  • @eastwoodco

    @eastwoodco

    Sounds like the wire brush plus encapsulator should get you the results you're looking for. We just did that on the C10 project we have in the shop right now - similar story, old PA truck, frame was rusty but not rotted, we wire brush and encapsulated.

    Transmission fluid works amazing also for say rust under your truck from salt on the roads. It's not for something you plan on painting. It will stop the rust from doing more damage. For snow and salt you might have to do it 2 or 3 times a year. Pump sprayer or spray bottle. I have a car trailer metal deck and it was rusting away fast. So I prayed it with tranny fluid and it stopped it and I hit it 2 times a year. Try it.

    Lowest cost system is a kiddy pool full of muriatic acid. Used to create PH balance in pools. Any damage to metal is insignificant, and the rust will be gone long before then anyway. You can save hundreds of dollars over other systems Just be sure to neutralize with simple baking soda. Try the product on a small heavily rusted part, you wont believe how well it works for around $10 a gallon.
