How to Remove Paint from Bricks (Powerwash)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is probably the most straightforward/mess free way. I've also tried removing paint from bricks by using a metal wire brush, and although that also technically works, it can alter the look of the brick, and sends metal wires flying everywhere which will stab you in the foot which I find untenable. Do wear eye goggles, you don't want neither brick particulates, nor chemicals flying back in your eyes.

Got black gloss black oil based paint on the red brick. Not sure what to try to removed this paint that really dried on? Any ideas? Thanks

I think paint removers are generally compatible with oil based paints. Try getting a gel type of paint remover and use a brush to really get it in the brick and let it sit & dissolve, then hit it with a pressure wash.
Would this do large areas?

Define large... It's probably among the faster methods, so it's all a matter of elbow grease. It may decrease the amount effort to add a sandblasting attachment off Amazon to the pressure washer, but I've had mixed results (namely, it creates a mess on the ground, and you need very fine and dry sand for it not to clog).

@@Bootstrappin the brick outside my front door under the eve. I should've done it when I first moved in before I started updating but here I am. Any suggestions from you pros? What's the best chemical? Thanks

@@shaffey01 ah I'm no pro, just a DIYer. The gel paint remover I used in my video worked decently (Klean Strip) - brush the stuff on, let it sit 15 minutes, wear generous eye protection, blast it off. If the paint is really thick, it may take several attempts.

@@Bootstrappin good stuff! Thanks for the reply and video!
In looking to buy a home a freshly painted basement is a red flag that there is something very wrong with that basement.

Ironically, just finished editing a video in which I used waterproofing paint on a suspicious spot.
I tried it, it did not work for me

Do you know what kind of stains they are? That could help determine what kind of cleaning solution you might need.

Goof off pro strength might help better here depending on the severity, probably has to sit longer before power washing. This thread is pretty helpful: www.reddit.com/r/Home/comments/14cmvkm/is_there_a_good_way_to_strip_paint_off_brick/#:~:text=Media%20blasting%20like%20soda%20or,porous%20the%20brick%20surface%20is.
