How To Remove Honda Accord Passenger Side Airbag In Dashboard (Also How-To Remove Glove Box)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this DIY auto repair video, young mechanic Aiman will show you how to remove the Passenger Side Airbag located inside the dashboard on a 2004 Honda Accord (which is the same for all model DX LX EX 2.4L & 3.0L Engine years 2003, 2005, 2006 & 2007). Similar process applies to most Honda and Acura cars, SUVs and minivans such Element, Civic, CRV, Pilot and Odyssey.
Removing the passenger side airbag is not really a difficult process, although care such as disconnecting the battery for at least 20 minutes or longer is highly recommended.
In order to take out the dashboard passenger side airbag, you must first remove the glove box. In this video, we will show you how to remove the glove compartment as well.
We've previously done a video on how to remove the steering wheel airbag on the same car. If you would like to watch that video, here's the link: • How To Remove, Change ...

I’m a trained Honda technician I’m a C Tech this video was very good but some pro tips for many people is that you should take off the fuse feeding power to it. Most people would say to disconnect the battery but the issue with disconnecting the battery is that you reset the driving cycle and erase any potential codes the car may have or in rare occasions cause the dash to light up all the dash lights of course you can always put a memory saver on but most technicians do not own one so taking off the fuse is the best way possible. Next you don’t necessarily have to take off the glove compartment you can literally just have it facing straight down by pushing the sides where it clips into place and it will fall. And lastly don’t take the airbag out of the dash where it is seated on. The inflator is what you are typically replacing (unless the airbag was deployed in an accident) but in Honda’s case we have a recall for the takata airbag inflators so we only replace the inflators. This video was great I give it a thumbs up and of course every car is different but Honda’s are very easy and you did great just remember to work smarter not harder you can save time and stress keep up the good work.

Question for you, in my accord that plastic panel on top of the airbag is scratched and it's been bothering me for super long and I just want to replace that and not the airbag. Would that be too hard to do or should i try and repair the scratch on it somehow?

Chris Morowitz yes it is possible to replace it you would have to take it all out as if you was to take off the airbag. Because the airbag is seated under it so theoretically you would have to take off the airbag. I would say you can do it but only if you know what you are doing, if not go to a trained professional and let them do it. It’s not hard at all but of course if you are not cautious then things can definitely go wrong. I say give it a go, let me know how it goes !

daviderhahon the driver airbag has two torx screws just turn the steering wheel upside down and look at both sides ,and you will notice the airbag is in a circular cover and the horn has a black connector you will need to disconnect the horn first then the airbag only because you can easily break the connectors that are fragile. It’s fairly easy to take out

I just took my 2011 honda accord in february 5, 2019, for the passenger air bag recall. They said it would take 2 - 2 1/2 hours, only took 45 minutes. I doubt they even dd it. I think Honda of Freehold scammed me. Afterall they sold me a car that could have killed my passenger at any time the past 7 1/2 years. THEY dont care about the people they sell the cars to.

Any airbag can kill someone. 1. Someone places an object on the sheet on top of the bag, the objects gets propelled at 200 feet per second in a crash or a malfunction. 2. You fall asleep on top of the steering wheel or the dash while being parked ( not driving ) and a car hits your car and the airbag goes off and breaks your neck. 3. You are in an ordinary car crash where both cars are moving and you are unlucky and plastic parts of the airbag system get stuck in you throat and eyes leading to a bleed out. 4. You have sensitive ears and get permanent tinnitus from the increased cabin pressure. This leads to a burnout and you can't work, you become homeless and die from pneumonia. 5. The car is struck by lightning and the airbag goes off even if the cables are unhooked instantly crushing the head of a baby. This leads to depression and suicide. etc. Clueless morons in Gov. mandating an explosive device inside of a car
