    Somebody needs to make a larger aftermarket tank for these things, aluminum tank that utilizes the extra space of the plastics would easily get us an extra gallon or more.

    I'm super happy that you showed us how to reinstall everything. Most people would have just said "just do the opposite of what you did". And left it at that. Those people didn't count on me being an idiot.

    Yo this was an absolute lifesaver. I was installing heated grips and I wanted to cleanly hide the wiring under the plastics. Getting the shrouds off made it waaaaaaay easier.

    Anyone ever have trouble getting that center black piece back on without any gaps? The snaps on the slanted piece facing towards the rider wont go in all the way on one side and its driving me crazy

    YES, very annoying, dealer just told me it was a very common problem, and that after basically one install, it would never sit correct again. I replaced mine, it sat flush after the first install, but after taking it off just once, it didn't sit flush again. Can't believe Yamaha hasn't made proper tolerances.

    Thanks for the video, one question. I followed your steps for the second time to replace air filter #2 at 12K miles. Went smooth as silk first time, but the second time I removed the tank, rolled it on its side to disconnect the fuel line and pump and 4 black spacers fell on the ground. Have looked at exploded diagrams, been on other forums, and cant get an answer as to where these go? Never had an issue the first time, and own the official shop manual (of course cant find it now that I need it). Curious if you have ever seen these 1/4 inch spacers when working on yours?

    Nice video! Have you experienced the middle piece not wanting to sit flush on the tank after having it off? Or have a tip to make it lock in again flush. The dealer told me, that's just how it is, even though it have like a 0.5 cm gap in one side and not the other. I tried everything, nothing seem to make the taps want to lock in properly again :/

    You will have some residual fuel in the line that goes to the injectors (very small amount) but you won’t have fuel pouring out from the tank thankfully!

    Whats that square hole on the front cover of the gas tank close to the bolt?

  • @BradTheBuilderChannel

    @BradTheBuilderChannel

    Жыл бұрын

    If I’m thinking of what your talking about correctly it is the nut for the bolt that enters on the other side. The nut is stuck in place so you do not have to hold it with a wrench on the other side.
