What a terrific video! Thank you for the clear and concise instructions on how to take apart the dryer and get to all the hidden lint. I've spent years feeling concerned about the lint I suspected was lingering in all the nooks and crannies, and I felt frustrated that I couldn't reach all the areas where lint might be collecting. It took us just over an hour to get the job done, and now I have peace of mind!

I’ve used your video twice now. The entire job now takes me about an hour, once a year. It’s a quick, early winter job. You’ve save me the cost of having a repair person come out to do it. Thank you!

Great video. Really helped me. The lint buildup was my issue for sure. If you own this dryer, this is how you do it. Pro tip so everyone can learn from my mistakes: if you’re going to take the door off, make sure you put it back on before you assemble the dryer. Took me 45 minutes to get it back on with the dryer assembled, and it was a righteous pain in the ass.

Thank you so much! You saved us a ton of money on a repair man! My granddaughter stuck a Lego down in our lint trap and when I turned it on it made a horrible noise. My husband was going to get someone to fix it but I suspected she had stuck something down in there so I found your video and we were able to get it out ourselves. Gotta love KZread!

Thank you! I've taken apart a Samsung dryer at our house but we have this Hotpoint/GE at a rental house. Although assembly looked similar, disassembly was very different. Apparently our tenants didn't ever clean the lint filter! Your video was super helpful and I disassembled and heavily cleaned it, back together and works. Took about two hours total. Thanks again!

Thank you. I found your tutorial very helpful and easy to follow. I successfully did it even though my dryer is slightly different. The grey part that is the actual housing of the lint filter is 2 pieces. Also my dryer had 3 bundles of wires that I had to unplug. The big one was a challenge. You have gained a faithful follower. I am going to make a TikTok with the steps you so generously shared, I will credit you channel. Again, thank you so much for helping to make me successful in doing this task. I live very, very far from town and finding a repairman to come out and do this is very cost prohibitive.

Good video as far as it goes, but it didnt look like he actually cleaned all that thoroughly. I saw many clumps of lint left in corners that I would have gotten with a finer brush, plus a disinfecting soap, water and ammonia... used carefully so as not to wet electrical parts. Also, I was hoping to see how to take off or open up the entire housing so I could vac and wipe the whole interior of the housing. ..all arpund the outside of the drum. I was given a used dryer and a large amount of lint was falling out of it as it was brought in. Well, I guess Ill just keep unscrewing screws and unplugging connections until the whole housing is removed. Then brush, shop vac, and scrub with detergent and water, enhanced with some ammonia ( best grease cutter, bacteria-buster ).

It's aggravating that they make it so complicated to access it

my filter looks like this. I tried to clean with a feather duster that went down pretty far. When I went to pull up I hit something . Now I have this piece of silver metal and my filter will not go back in dryer. I called Maytag and they could not help me and said I need a tech to come out. I have called 3 places and know one can come out till New Years. I wish I could send you a picture of the piece of meTAL. Now I took an item and tried to push the piece of metal down and filter still will not go in.

Appreciate the video but there has to be a way to easily clean the lint out without having to take apart the whole dryer.

Thanks for video but upon reassembly I cannot get unit to run. My guess is the wire connection is now bad but not sure on this. Could it be anything else? Thanks in advance

Make sure the door is closing all the way or it will not start. I was having the same issue with filter bouncing and it was causing the door to not stay shut and locking properly during operation.
