Hi Malcolm, I got the same problem with a 2010 R56 mini cooper, the radio display back light doesn’t works and the command buttons and the sound neither, so i bought another one, but the display still doesn’t works, the CD player and sound are working, but I can’t use any command besides the power and eject buttons… Did you fix this problem? I don’t know what can I do anymore with that…

And after putting it back it will rattle like hell 😂

Yep got it fixed it was a corroded card inside the radio. remade the connections and it was fine until windscreen leaked again and soaked the radio@@carolinarebelo7241

Is the speedometer broken a common thing with this car ? If so why ??? I just bought a 2008 and mine is not working . I mean I bought it today from a private owner and he won’t fix it .

@@nikkicooke no I never got an answer Nikki . So sorry . I ended up getting rid of the car , it was nothing but a headache . I did love it though .
