Hi, I have a clicking noise on both cv joints where they enter the front differential, does this indicate my cv joints are bad or the differential is bad?

You know leaving those out wouldn't actually give you any extra power to the rear wheels right? The transfer case is going to split the power before it gets to the rear regardless of whats connected in the front. You would have to eliminate the transfer case to deliver all the power to rear. I know this video is old but my comment is for anyone thinking they're going to convert to rwd and have more power.

sory but you are rong cause the rear axil is direct connected to the gear but the front axil is connected via clutch in the transfer case so when we remove the front shaft all the power go to the rear axil

So i have a 2008 535xi i had a boot sadly come apart due to a loose plastic cover that ate through the boot and caused premature failure. Im wanting to run it as rear wheel drive until the new ones come in at bmw. I can not afford to have my car down come monday. I am having issues with the 4 wheel drive light coming on and not letting me go over 25 mph ? wondering if theres a fix for it

@@Turbo2Pete When I did mine i used what's called a slide hammer. It was a pain in the ass to remove the axel by hand. Since I was on jack stands i through i was going to tip the car over.. The slide hammer works great. I tied a chain to mine and gave it one good solid slide and the axel popped right out. Look them up on the googles, you can find some pretty cheap or even just make your own DIY style

Following a TRIO of front cv axle premature-failures...imagine my shock when I applied extra light to the area around the front-diff mounting bracket; Lo and behold; two aluminum bolts had in fact sheared: This was causing the assembly to sag ~1.5 inches closer to the subframe...which was (likely upon mild bump) eating inner boots.Right-or-wrong; those AL bolts got replaced with STEEL. This is a bargain, hi-mile ride, but I've had my fill of finding sheared soft stretch bolts on my garage floor and underpans. I'm thinking my E46 was that last model to have

The Axles only apply to AWD. RWD cars do not have those in the front. The wheel/hub is held on by the control arms, and the steering rack.

How far did he make it until the front wheels fell off? The axle and axle nut are what hold the wheel bearings together. So without the outer parts of the axles there's nothing to hold the wheels to the car.
