If you didn’t have the battery hooked up and charging while it was in storage, it's a good idea to check the state of your power supply!
Here's how to remove the Honda Rebel's battery safely.
1) First and foremost, make sure when you’re doing this that the ignition switch is OFF.
2) Pull the rear corners of the seat up, remove the mounting bolts using a 5mm allen key, then pull the seat back and up.
3) Remove the data link connector while pressing its tab from the battery cover
4) Remove the connector holder from the battery cover
5) Release the harness from the guide on the battery cover
remove the clips.
Battery Tender Jr. is a great accessory for any motorcyclist. This is different from a trickle charger because it doesn’t charge the battery all the way up just to let it die, it actually keeps it charged. I’ll drop a link below for this product - this is a must have!
Battery Tender® Junior 12V, 750mA Battery Charger

The Battery Tender Jr. is only good for maintaining a charge opposed to jumping it.
A 12 V jumper should do the trick between 2 motorcycles, or even rolling the motorcycle down a hill (also known as bump starting).

I liked this video. I was thinking of installing the tender leads on my rebel. It looks like it shouldn't be too hard.

Cowasaki, cute. In Florida we can ride all year. Good explanation. I would add some leads so it would be easier to attach the trickle charger.

CC, did you ever happen to see that motorcycle video I was recommending to You Two All of those Riders are your neighbours. ;-) I wrote this message before watching your video, so I am going start watching now. hee hee

Which service manual is yours and where from? I have one as well but the pictures are not as nice 😅 nor as clear. Like the clips just have pictures and arrows pointed to them, none of the parts have names in the picture like "data link connector, wire harness", etc.

can you leave that tray over the battery out, or does it have to be in place?

Not really helpful, I'm trying to unhook all the sensors first, can't find the tabs, etc.

Because this dumb ass bike you can’t use the trickle charger unless you take it out. They made it difficult to make more money from servicing.

Why don't you tell its about the Rebel 500 IN the titel? The 1100s get clickbaited and bored 😮

Thumbs down. 👎 You don’t show removing the tabs or uncoupling the red connector. Details matter.
