How to Remove Background in Photoshop for 2023. This background removal technique works well for difficult subjects such as hair, trees, plants. In order to remove the background behind difficult pictures like trees or hair it is best to use channels instead of the quick selection tool. In this photoshop tutorial I will show you how to remove the background of a very detailed subject using channels. This technique will allow you to create a transparent background for very detailed subjects such as trees, people with curly hair etc.
Step 1: Click on Channels
Step 2: Locate the Channel with the Most Contrast
Step 3: Duplicate that Channel
Step 4: Adjust the levels of the new channel to increase contrast more. With your new channel selected, click on image, adjustments, and the select levels. When you are satisfied with your levels click ok.
Step 5: Hold CTRL and click on the new channel thumbnail. Now your new channel is selected.
Step 6: Swith over to Layers, and click on the ADD LAYER MASK button.
Step 7: With you layer selected, click on image, adjustments, and then from the drop down menu select INVERT
Step 8 : Hold down ALT and click on the MASK
Step 9: Make sure your foreground color is WHITE and the click on the brush tool.
Step 10: Paint your brush over any areas that were masked that you don't want to be transparent.
Step 11: Hold ALT and click on your mask.
