How-to Remove A Roll-Up Door - Super Easy - Box Van Life Arizona
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
van life, box truck conversion, box van conversion, tiny house, tiny home,
Removing the roll-up door from our box van was a big step. We had heard all kinds of tales of woe about it and we were regretting doing ourselves. We even thought about living with that noisy uninsulated contraption. In reality the roll up door removal was the easiest job we've done so far on this project. Hopefully this video will help you with your own project. As always be careful and don't go beyond your comfort zone but at the same time don't let the task intimidate you.

I closed my door and cut it into small 2 foot pieces with my chain saw until it all fell apart.

That sounds like great hack.
Your right, that was relatively easy. The ole war wagon is coming along nicely. Good job. Thank you
Super cool project 👍

If you're ever building one of these I hope it'll help you out. Thanks for stopping by.
You took out the best feature of a box van !!! My god, you had a removable wall/window/door that made you feel like you were living outside. WHY ?!?! You CAN insalate the door also !

When it's hot is when I use it most. Too late now, but I would have just covered the back with a false wall. Then if you, or someone wanted it someday.....

@danblake3265 I've been living in the truck around 8 months a year now, and I'm really happy I removed that noisy door. Goodbye to the dirt and dust, and the floor plan is perfect. It also gave me a place to mount a large metal cabinet for generators, tools, etc. in a very organized fashion. After my experience with the truck both with and without that door I couldn't be happier that I did this.
👍👍👍
You made that look easy...
Nice! This is a major step! Easier than I thought it would be!

Me too. Thanks for watching and commenting too Marshall.
Thanks for the video, I was planning to deploy the same method of grinding off the pin of each hinge, glad I got to see that method in action.

I’m concerned with the tension in the spring at top. How did you prevent any injury when that unwinded? I know the home garage door springs can be really dangerous.

Honestly, there wasn't much tension. There wasn't much to the whole job as I remember it it's been a while.

@@Fit4Expedition I was concerned about that also somebody tried to un screw it and the spring almost snapped in their face... was it better to use saw?

@@mattv3395 We used a grinder. It worked well for us.
QUESTION: what do you do with something like that AFTER removal?

I'm going to use the plywood for building my bed and storage compartments. Thanks for asking Lucretia.
Going to be real nice once the wall goes up. A door in the back too????
This isn't a rollup.
