How to Relax and De-Stress: Some of my Favorite Thoughts.

There is no faster way to de-stress than to have an "A-ha" moment in life. A sudden stroke of insight that changes your perception of the world.
I've had mine. And these five thoughts have helped along the way.

    the biggest aha moment was when I realized the hip rotation against the lower jaw .... and the impact its has on the cervical occipital area ..... how an nerve impingement on a shoulder can create hell on earth as you cant get out of the left side .... and all that posterio anterio chain is doomed until I stepped in and fought with a pain that at first I've thought might kill me .... and gradually with exercise , small steps got better .. my eyes and posture improved ... same as my mechanics ...now my but and shoulders are stronger then ever ...... same as my feet ....

    Currently going trough a bit of an existential crisis. Were its starting to feel that all the ''pushing trough'' ''doing the right thing even if it feels bad'' that ive done as an obedient kid and teenager might have been the cause of all my problems. Always obligation has come before happiness, and more often than not hat obligation was posture exercises, going to yet another doctor to get yet another treatment prescrived, be it therapy that never worked, orthotics that never helped, or glasses that caused me headaches, even eye surgery that just made my vision worse. And practically never just being happy and getting whatever im asking for, be it a video game or to go watch a movie. And having this deep down feeling that no medical treatment helped and that i only felt physically well when i was happy and could let my guard down. Now ive got very slight scoliosis wich im pretty sure has been caused by a whole life of ''straight back, chest forward, shoulders back'' faking of good posture, eye problems mostly caused by a wrong surgery, and just an inability to be comfortable no matter were i am, even tho ive been a good boy and done all my homework and done all the exercises the doctor recomended.

    Neal I would argue that we do have SOME control for instance. Someone who is fat is probably someone who has more stress and anxiety compared to if they were actually fit. So in that sense I think life can get a little bit easier if they chose to be fit...

  • @FrenchCanadianGuy

    @FrenchCanadianGuy

    2 жыл бұрын

    That is a very shortsighted comment. Some people are fat BECAUSE of stress (read about cortisol and fat). Some people are fat because of epigenetic/genetic reasons (read about hypogonadism) Some people are too busy working and feeding their family to take the time and energy to "get fit". They buy the most calorie dense food to save money and they have to eat "bad".

    Oh, it certainly has. However, I would say reading Buddhist psychology had the biggest influence on how I view life. When I discovered PRI, I realized PRI and Buddhism describe the same phenomena as the key to healing- "letting go" of painful patterns-one being neuromuscular and the other is a destructive pattern of thought.

    Ive never liked this type of advice. If the way to be happy and relaxed is to belive that no one is really fully happy, and that even if you defeat your current issues other ones that are just as big are gonna appear... Thats called coping, ''it doesnt get much better than this so why worry''. Its a little hard to buy into this mindset when i see all the sad mediocre people arround me say these things, meanwhile the happy, atractive, smart relaxed and talented ones dont say such things. I remember as a kid getting all excited and inspired, be it by a superhero, famous person, or in general someone who is cool and who you wanna be like, and always getting a '''bah, dont even bother kid, its all fake'' and when i ask whats fake about that person and point out to someone in shape and good looking, they cant rly point out physical flaws so they just hit you with the ''well i bet deep down they are as insecure as everyone else'' and the message always boils down to ''dont even try to excel because youll end up just as flawed as the rest of us, just more tired''
