i just recently got my hands on some really beautifully hand dyed llama wool. The only thing is the roving is super thin!! I tried felting some DE dreads with it and they are like spaghetti thin dreads. I'll make a few this size but how do i make the roving thicker? Do i just wrap it together? Thank you for your super detailed informational tutorials i have just finished making my first wool set thanks to you!

+Peekaboo'sBaby when the roving is still unfelted you can wrap them up together, make sure there are no gaps or "cracks" so it won't develop cracks as you felt. Sometimes I'll just add a few roving strands together and fluff the cracks out and felt that way, or a less cracky way could be to gently stretch one roving apart and then wrap it around another roving strand. You could wrap more than one roving strand around it if you want it thicker.

How do you keep your dreads tight to you head? I braid mine tightly but they still come loose and fall out. Any tips

I start the braid by dividing my hair strand into two, then i rest a double ended dread into one strand so the dread straddles the strand. I slide the dread as close to my scalp as possible. I hold it in place (or lift both hair strands up so that the dread root falls into place) and begin braiding. I stop at about one inch down the braid and then hold the hair in place while i examine the start of the dread. If it looks loose now, undo and braid tighter. Test again at one inch. If it doesnt look too loose, test to see if its too tight by holding the hair down on the dread while u move the dread from side to side and back and forth. See if there are any hairs being pulled. If there are hairs being pulled, undo the braid and start over. Test until the braid is close to the scalp, but without pulling when the dreads move. Keep your braid tension the same tension all the way down. Looseness in the lower braid can work its way up to the root over time. But make sure you dont braid super tight , which would kink up your dread (unless u like that look, then braid the lower end tightly) ...It takes some practice to get the tension right! Just keep at it and your hands will gain muscle memory of how tight to braid.
