What do you think looks more natural, synthetic hair home made dreads, or wool? I'm guessing synthetic..

Ok, so I make both. It depends on if you web/crochet your wool dreads after they're formed. Some people do, in which case, they look more realistic and are easier to make. Synthetic definitely are more of a pain and dont really look super realistic either unless crocheted. But out of the two, synthetic hair fiber looks more realistic for the uncrocheted dreads. :)

how many second in total do you figure you are rolling? I have only ever made my own and am not sure what is considered the correct firmness. I usually count to about 30 seconds and test them to see if they pull apart. IT seems like it doesnt take very long. Great video, thanks!!

When you watch them, are they going to get flat and wet like that again?

I google search merino wool and go from there. Sometimes I've found some at craft stores, and even taken apart old dream catchers that I've got from yard sales. They often have fluffy wool hanging on them.

Also, can you use a felting needle on synthetic hair dreads into your own hair instead of a crochet needle? Would it work?

They last for a few months if you want. I take em out and redo them after about an 8nch or two of my real hair grows in. Otherwise it starts to tangle at the root.

And they are light and soft usually. When they are wet they are heavy and smell like a wet sheep lol. The smell goes away once they are dry. I shampoo mine every few days.

You shouldn't cut your wool... just pull it apart.

Dont do dreads like this. They will come apart. If your going to make them then do it the right way.
