    I recommend to use the Miolle kinetic rope, Used twice already for trail recoveries, and worked like a charm. Nice hi-vis color makes it easy to see and, more importantly, stay clear of during the snatch. Seems very well made and robust. I definitely recommend this kinetic rope.

    i do alot of offroading and am familiar with recoveries, kinetic ropes, and beating on jeeps and vehicles.. seen this video pop up hoping itd cover safe points to pull from on modern cars for when i come across someone off the road or stuck in snow.. but you have an after market recovery point that accepts a d ring... id say over 90% of cars today dont come with any recovery points and the only option is the J-hooks only tow trucks have which still arent ideal as at bad angles you risk the line digging into or ripping off bumpers and body work

    Second this and add that if you use a flat strap or worse a chain, you WILL damage a unibody car even using the factory recovery points.

    Appreciate the video! Who other than jeepers, farmers and firefighters carry expensice recovery rope in their car, just in case? Honest question, maybe the point here is dont pull people out of ditches unless you know what you are doing...

  • @AndrewBrowner

    @@Christopher-vf6kx is that really the point here? and recovery ropes arent that expensive, princess auto here in canada has them on for 40$ frequently and theres decent ones for 80-120$ on amazon, name brand ones are pricey at 300$+, i havent compared them to know which ones are worth it but for just occasionally emergency use the cheap ones are fine and much better than strap or chain the point of my comment was, almost all modern cars have no where to attach any kind of shackle, clevic, hook, rope, ect without almost certainly ripping body panels off and damaging suspension bits aswell.. they could of got that car out with a strap or chain just fine, not as gently or smoothly but itd have been out and fine, the aftermarket tow hook point is something they couldnt do without and something that is too late to be done once the cars in the ditch, and really out of your control if the stuck vehicle isnt yours to begin with what we need is a video on how to attack a clevis or tow hook of somekind to a car thats in a ditch or snow bank and pull it out with a kinetic rope not a winch line

    @@ameraldas3641 thats really car and position specific.. alot of new cars have what 4" of bumper clearance if your jeep/trucks attachment point if 2ft high and the control arm is a couple feet beyond their bumper the angles just arent going to add up and the rope will want to pass through where the bumper is... find a friends compact car or something like a honda civic, put your rope or trap on a control arm and then try to attach it to the hook on your truck bumper 20ft away.. theres gonna be interference, now ass in that the stuck car would either be sunk in mud or snow, and possibly in a ditch with a big break over angle to tackle... theres gonna be issues

    Well, my tip would be to do your best to drive off the road as parallel to it as possible while using whatever is off of the road to drastically reduce your speed. Swerving hard to the left or right can put you at risk of being struck by cars from the side, or rolling over, or both. Do your best to turn like you're just trying to get into another lane. Hard to do it in the moment, but maintain control as much as you can, reducing your speed as safely and gradually (as to avoid getting rear-ended by cars behind you) as you can and avoiding or minimizing the collision. Easy to say when it isn't happening to you, but do your best not to panic. Use that adrenaline-fueled time dilation to take stock of your options. Again, these are easy tips to write out on KZread while sitting in my house. You can only imagine how you're going to react in an actual (potential) collision. And if you see the car in front of you begin to cause a wreck, put your hazards on. Even if the wreck doesn't happen, at least people behind you know something's up

    Dumb question, what do you do when a stuck or stalled vehicle has its brake on? Is there any way to disengage park on a powered off/disabled vehicle prior to pulling it out?

  • @Teamoneilrally

    @Teamoneilrally

    2 ай бұрын

    Not a dumb question, great question as this scenario could be very likely to happen. You can winch a car that's stuck in park, it will drag and it depends on the scenario as to if the vehicle could be damaged as a result. Most likely you would want to first winch the car around if possible and pull from the rear as it is lighter. Hopefully the stuck vehicle is on a loose slippery surface and not way down in a ditch.

At least in the front bumper that is. My normal Focus has that, so I suppose ST models have that as well? Maybe it is something European, but to my knowledge all cars here have that.
