another tip: when inserting a beat into the playlist, don't use the fader to adjust the volume. Throw on Fruity Balance and decrease the gain. This is will actually make the beat come into the DAW at that volume, leaving you MUCH MORE headroom when you go to master.

What about the volume knob in the instrument rack? what that be the same ? Because like most daws has a pre gain level knob. Gain staging should be done using the pre gain and not the fader because its post fader ..

@@shevyjohn9308 Exactly, use the volume knob in channel rack. Acts as pre fader gain control before you hit the mixer. From there, use the plugins gain control or volume multiplier as pre fader for instruments/audio in control rack and the mixer. 🤫

Don’t do this as it adds plugin delay to the track. As the other two said use the channel rack volume knob. It controls the volume before entering the mixer 👌🏼

@@Davo_Deluxe take an EQ and check the volume of the beat when you just turn the fader down. It will still be peaking at 0db or -0.1db. That’s why you should use Fruity Balance because it actually turns the gain down. When you turn your master fader down, it just turns down the output to your headphones/speakers, not the gain itself. And no, it adds extremely little to no delay. I’ve been doing this for years now.

I always wait to update. Just got my Rode NT1-A. Recorded in FL and worked good but tracks everywhere. Just looked up pro tools. Then searched "How to record vocals like a God in FL Studio' and let auto complete for 20.9 came here. Those are exactly the things needed to make FL a serious recording DAW...Arm track (and assign which was there but had issues). Thanks for sharing! Super excited and thanks for requesting it of them 🙏🙏🙏

For me the biggest improvement to recording in FL 20.9 is that now FL records the "external input only". This means no more accidental recording of previously recorded tracks when recording multiple takes. The age of muting every single track you recorded is over. I wrote to Image Line about this a year ago, and they actually fixed it.

@@BWC92 Once you select an input, a window should pop up asking you to choose where in the chain you want to record. Select "External input only" and "Don't ask again" to make it default. If the window doesn't pop up, click the grey arrow icon that's above the FX slots in the mixer and select "External input only".

The reason why the beat track linked to number 2 in the mixer is because of the default sampler in the channel rack. It is automatically linked to track 1 in the mixer.
