That's the kind of setup we used to use years ago to live stream consoles. We used to use the HDPVR, cam twist or something like that for grabbing the preview window and then push that out to something like flash media encoder. Audio would be pushed through a mixer of some kind. These days we use DVI to HDMI boxes to strip HDCP. Works just as well. Thanks for making/sharing the video and giving me a kind of flash back.

Yet again you teach me something new. I was always under the impression that HDCP worked at a lower level and that anything not supporting it is just refused at the HDMI handshake.

Been doing this for ages with bandicam (lossless codec) and a roxio hd pro capture card to record really nice hdmi from ps3, but i would prefer a ps4 with the extreme cap though. Great video and nice to hear someone not dissing this work-around.

HDCP wasn't designed to protect games... which is why it pisses so many people off that Sony insisted on using it during gameplay throughout the entire life of the PS3 and now at launch on the PS4. HDCP was MEANT to stop people making "prefect" digital copies of Bluray/movies/tv shows etc etc... not that it ACTUALLY did a fucking thing to stop that AT ALL.

So, if the maximum resolution is limited to one in the computer screen; then, in theory, by connecting a 1920x1080 capable monitor we can get 1080p video capture, can't we?

Only if the TV AND the monitor are 1080p. I do believe the console outputs the native resolution of the TV it's connected to by default. I'm sure you could force it to output 1080p on a 720p or other resolution display though.

without trying to straight RIP blunty's earlier statement but *cough* "because COPY. PROTECTION" ie the HDMI output prohibts it from being recorded - thus this FRAPS work around /i thank you
