    I use a variation of the last option. What I do is play the guitar into my DAW where I can add effects etc. I also have other tracks playing to play along with. The guitar is connected to my Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface, and the mix is monitored on headphones. From the RCA outputs on the interface I connect to an iRig Stream that is connected to my phone. This allows me to record video with the audio from the DAW so there is no need to sync it. As long as I record the guitar at the same time in the DAW I can make changes and then use the sync method to swap the sound over. Works great, and is really flexible. If you use Filmic Pro or another camera app on the phone you can also get better audio as you can set the recording levels. This avoids quiet parts getting amplified by the auto gain systems in stock camera apps on the phone.

    How can you add effects whilst the guitar Plugged into your daw then into your phone?

  • @GenerationDown

    @GenerationDown

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@DannyGuitar12 do you know what a DAW is? Not trying to be rude, seriously, but if you did it would answer your question. DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation, and it’s inside this program that effects can be added to your signal before you even hit record. Or….. You can get one of the countless all in one guitar effects pedals that have speaker outs. Like the BOSS GT series, Headrush, Line 6 Helix…. I personally use the Fractal FM3. You build the tone and effects you want and then just hit record and jam!

    Recording straight to an Android phone is the way I go and it has been serving my limited purpose really well. There's a certain clarity to it as compared to using an audio interface, DAW etc and gives you a pretty true representation of where you're at.

You can bluetooth in the backing track from an Ipad or extra phone, and then plug it directly into the recording phone and capture all of the sound at the same time. Pretty awesome. 120 USD for the Micro, about 12 USD for the USB-to-Lightening converter.

    Some interesting options for sure which I didn't even know existed, especially the Roland interface. I often feel like recording short clips for instagram or whatever, but with my current setup it just takes too many steps. Cable mess, messing with audio settings and Reaper to get levels right or to even get a signal. Either I can't be bothered to even begin, or I lose motivation to play by the time I get everything set up. And then having to edit everything in video software (which usually isn't cheap) is just too much. Seems ideal to be able to do everything on my phone and get ideas out there fast.
