How To Record Foley

In our second foley episode of Sound 101, Andrew knocks out a scene from Night of the Living Dead with guidance from Jody at The Sync Tank! We start with a cue sheet and run through the whole scene: cloth pass, footsteps, props.
Check out the Sync Tank: thesynctank.com/
Zombie shuffling, going downstairs, knocking crowbars off the wall, and the body fall. We do it all! Foley artists of all levels will learn something from this episode as we cover the process of going through a scene, performing these sound effects and manipulating props to get what you need from them.
Microphone placement and mixing is also a part of foley - you need to know how to get your actions to sound right. Be sure to check out Jody’s perfect run-through of this scene at the end!

Probably the best video on Foley that I've found online. I think it's great that you are showing how much of a difference it is having a seasoned pro vs a "first timer" recording foley on the same scene.

Actually telling someone you're nervous and having them walk you through is a very good tactic. It involves the other person, makes them nicer to you and lessens the burden on you and provides you with emotional support. You can tell he was really nervous so when ppl are going to notice them why not involve them? Try it sometime. You will find ppl will be nicer to you
