Started with a prayer, that’s a blessed way to start a repair always and forever!
You are an insperation. That's the first time I have ever heard anyone start off a tutorial video with a request for guidance for God's direction. Bless you brother.
I just love how you started this video. Thank you and God bless you.

Amen brother
Major props for showing the backwards steps in fixing things back. Definitely using this when I tackle my vanos job in a few weeks
Yeah man! I love the way you acknowledge the Almighty. I've seen other videos where the mechanics can't express without cursing, I just skip them. We come here for advise and counseling, not to get more corrupt. Keep it up man, God bless you
Hey, this is one of the best videos on this procedure I have seen. You actually move the camera to relevant viewing angles. Thank you!
At 12:56 “So lefty tighty righty loosey” you’re such a star!
I've got exactly the same VANOS in my 2.5 litre petrol BMW X3 from 2006 model E83. All other repairs show different VANOS system for my car and I'm glad I've found your film. Good job buddy.
This is an excellent video, I have a 330ci i don't need to fix anything yet, but if it ever comes to the Vanos, this will sure help me a lot!! Thanks great content.
The prayer before attacking the Vanos is a freaking great idea. I've never seen this before and I'm going to try it myself next time. Bless you brother.
great video, i didn"t have the noise, i had the engine light, i changed both solenoids, the video was a great help
Very clear! Thank God for giving you all that was needed to make these videos. 💪🏿
Very thorough brother, I'm gonna look for you everytime I do work on my e90 323i or my e53 4.4i X5. I love how you acknowledge The Heavenly Father. Blessings to you brother.
Wow that was outstanding ......you make it look so easy. Job well done. I am going to do my own 2003 BMW X5 3.0i . Thank you so much for taking the time out to make this video. The picture was some clear . Plus u explain everything you was doing step by step . Again thanks
Amen brother I always pray before doing big job on car praise Jesus

lol so do i, i thought i was the only one.. i also pray when other people are working on it that God gives them a guiding hand and a sharp eye and a keen sense of understanding. ive seen some people forget to tighten the lug nuts like i did 1 time and a situation arose to where i had to replace the wheels to another car. finding out that the lugs were not tighten. Thank God
Super simple and direct Great job Han.
Very professional and clear vid, great job, looking for your CCV replacement too!
Thanks for the assist! Great video, swapped out my vanos over the weekend!

I love your intro - cool dude for fixing and uploading.
Great VIDEO. Precise & simple to follow. Thanks a mil. God bless.
I'm really happy that I got a 5er, engine is much more accessible there.
I subscribed as soon as I heard your prayer man, I respect that so much😊👍
Another awesome video! Now, i can do my vanos and valve cover gasket! I have an e90 335i but it looks similar enough. Thank you so much.
a slightly sticking VANOS solenoid is relatively easily cleaned with two Mannol intake cleaner runs each followed by a 100 mile delayed full oil+filter change. This allows the concentrated intake cleaner to break down slightly the dried over aged long--oil change solids.
Thank you so much for making this great video. I am doing this tonight. Had everything but the rattle rings and they came in today. I'm so excited for my 330 to have more low end torque! 15:10 "😅 be careful with this spring, it just pops out"
i have a 02 325xi. i have this noise. was worried about this job. not anymore. great video!
Thanks for this great video, Han. Helped me a lot. Just one minor correction: the big center screw holding the VANOS bearings is a 24 mm (not 22).
Great video really explained everything in easy to understand terms. Top Man thank you
Thanks for doing this video!!!
Thx man! This helped me a lot, i got that annoying rattle comin from my vanos. I wondered how hard vanos rebuild is but its kind a simple process
This video is a great help, will start on that job sa soon as I hear from you on where to get the rings.
Big Up! much respect for that intro.
Just a fantastic aproach of a DIY tutorial. Loved the video editing cuts. What I'm experiencing is a severe bogging (almost stalls if i don't do at least 2000 rpms) on 1 gear, when I'm taking off (cold engine). When it's warm, works like a charm. Also, but this time only when the engine is already warm, I hear some rattle between 1500 and 2800 rpm, on high torque gears (first and second and usually only on climbing some hill or something that demands more power). I'm not sure, but I think this is the well known vanos rattle noise... . Already checked for erros but almost everything is normal (standard values and no erros) although, some values are not 100% right due (mechanic words) some minor vacumm leak. Already spent a lot of hours on forums and I think this is the only solution to my problem. What is disencouraging me is the non of my mechanincs (official bmw and others) have heard about "VANOS SEALS cause of problems" and they all say: "I´ve been working for more than 20 years with bmw and never heard of it...you and your forum/internet mechanic adivices..." But I think I''m ready to follow your and other youtuber tutorials and try it myself. Do you think this might be the solution that I'm looking for (my e46 323ci has more than 300k kilometers (190k miles)?

Great video, thanks for sharing! 😎👍🇬🇧
That is a lot of work! 😮
Subbed such a great video on how to do this complex work on BMW engines. Beyond my skills but worth learning.
This is awesome
Being methodical is the way to simplicity….well done
Han very well done my friend. Liked how u spoke into the vid said the next step then fast forwarded the work. Nice job. ? I noticed u disnt replace the nearing in center of hub they also have play in them u can sand down them to snug up fitmemt or buy a anti rattle bearing. Still very nice work. God Bless
great video!
Muito Top! Fantástico vídeo parabéns! Obrigado de Portugal! 😎👌

SUPER THANK YOU STUDY
Nice intro...so my e46 just started this slight noise. It only does it when I rev above 3k. Was really hoping you would have started the car so we could hear the rattling noise you were fixing
Great vid! Thanks!
Very detailed, thank you
great video the best i've seen thanks
Thanks buddy, I dare to buy used BMW now, love the car so much, but maintenance cost and German quality, design, made me day dream. So true you put God first before your attempt.

Hey Brooke.. I love the PRAYER. 🤙🤙💯🌴🌺🍍🙏
Love this video
Thank you for the video. What was the reason you wanted to change / fix your vanos in the first place? Have a great day Han
Great and very informative
Thanks for the video I forget to pray at the start of working on my cars. We all tend to pray only after we run into an issue. I'll make it a habit. Thanks

Excellent job. Question. Why didn’t you use some sealant for rocker gasket?
Fantastic thank you!
Hey Han, great video. I have BMW E46 M Line, when you start it he works normal but them after a few seconds he kinda changes sounds, i supose it sounds like hes adding gas. He Works Like that for a few seconds and then he settles, same thing happens when you turn on AC.
I noticed you didn't put a new layer of gasket sealer before mounting the valve cover?! this step is (optionally added protection) I think, but I always do this to prevent any premature oil leaks that may leak out months before its time to replace it again within specified intervals.
Is it the same process for N53 engines. I have a 525i sedan 2007 i have the rattle noise probably the double Vanos. Transmission when it changes gears from first to second sometimes 3rd i have a small bump that pushes the car. The car has 250 000km does someone advice me to change the transmission oil and filter... or the problem will stay ... ? Thank you for the amazing and very clear explanation.
Helpful video
Han, great video and information. I have a 2008 750i BMW and my mechanic, Levi from LS Motor Sports, informed me that the noise that I'm hearing is from the Vanos. Where can I purchase the gasket kit to rebuild the Vanos? Is 1hr the acceptable time to fix the Vanos system and put it all back together. Last but not least, where are you LOL..I recently found a exceptional mechanic name Levi and he has his own business called LS Motor Sport here in Summerville, SC and when I say you remind me of him, you do. You guys are God sent and I thank you for this valuable information. Let me know where you purchase the kit from and I thank you again for a great video.

Hi there brother. I have a 2007 bmw x5. Where can I find vanos piston and rattle repair kit that will fit me.
@abdulhaqqhaiti
4 жыл бұрын
I've noticed that the ones you used in vid doesn't match 2007 x5
good job
another thing you mentioned actually is when the car rattles it could be the washer in the system... my question is about the timing of the rattling... would the rattling only occur when you start up the car?
Great vid, thx. When was the rattle most heard and is this issue similar to e90 series engines? I got my N43 rattling mostly in mid rev range and some poor fuel economy. Do you think This would help?
I did this 4 yrs ago, always oil the o-rings before seating them
Simple trick to remember if ever confused or forget. Exhaust side is the one with the spring.
perfect guide
Bro can you do a video replacing the driveshaft center support bearing and rubber guibo that would helpful

kzread.info/dash/bejne/qqintdFmn5mYdM4.html here you go. It's the e36 job for the tranny but identical steps
Nice DIY vid! I was going to vid and post my M52tu seal swap but there's no reason with this! I Hope you used the Beisen system seals, the stock BMWs will need replacement a lot sooner. While your in there change out your vans oil line- common oil leak point and the valve cover vent hose as well.
Question with respect to the T30 torx screw on exhaust camshaft lobe the bolt here snapped in half for the splined shaft...if i ca not get remaining portion out where can i just find the splined shaft for exhaust side cam lobe in the vanos system here...?
Decent video, thank you. Would a similar approach apply to all BMW’s with the vanos unit? I have an e46 318i that won’t fire up and fault reader detected a failed vanos. I may have a go at rebuilding it and your video has made me want to do it even more.

HAN'S GARAGE Excellent! The only difference I can see is that the vehicle you were working on has more cylinders but I’m guessing it all comes apart and goes back together the same. Thanks again!
Working on a Beemer, you will need gods help for sure.
Are you rolling the new washers into their positions in this video onto the vanos i think.i saw you put 4 each in both.
Great job Han! What camera did you use and how did you get those great overhead shots?

+kidznscooters i used my dslr Nikon D5100 and used a big tripod
Is it worth replacing the timing chain tensioner whilst the Vanos is off the car? Thanks!
Is it possible to thoroughly clean vanos "solenoid valves" or just replace the two of them for 2006 BMW E53 M54B30 3.0i SAV ?
Hahahaha, the fast forward sound effect is funny.. Message to your Vanos... "May The Power Of Christ Compel you !" I have the S50B32 but i still watched this.
Hi there Han just wondered if you put the engine at TDC and locked down the camshaft and such first ?Great vid

I didn't get the change to record the actual noise but if you can send me a clip i can tell if it is the vanos or not
Aside from the Religious Fanatic intro, really well made video
did you put new valve cover casket on
Definitely a great vid, thanks for uploading! I just wish you had started the engine at the end to hear the result. On a different topic, my 323i e46 started making a weird noise lately, when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear after some hard driving. It's not really a grinding noise... it's like something starts spinning fast immediately after engaging 2nd gear, on the driver's side. And if you push the clutch pedal the sound stops. I can only describe it because it's very difficult to catch on video, since it doesn't happen all the time, only intermittently. Would you have an idea about what that could be? Thanks!

Can i suspect it's vanos helical gear noise i hear when engine is warmed up? When it's cold engine sounds fine with tapping noise.
Great video. But buy a set of picks to get those o-rings out!
Great video. Thank you.
