How To Reassemble an Xbox One Controller

Ойындар

This video will show you how to reassemble and put your Xbox One Controller back together. It is the third part of a video series on How to Take Apart Your Xbox One Controller. Whether you have broken buttons, triggers, joysticks, or other issues with your controller such as the rumble packs, this video series will help you diagnose and fix your Xbox One Controller.
What You'll Need:
- Controller Parts (amzn.to/2irJSpA)
- Torx Screwdriver (amzn.to/2iFsmx6)
- Soldering Iron or Kit (amzn.to/2iim1eQ)
- Solder Sucker (amzn.to/2iFwDVn)
- Rosin Core Solder (amzn.to/2hu21oh)
What You'll Need to Do:
Step 1: Place the buttons and button cover back onto the main frame of the Xbox One Controller.
Step 2: Place the first of the two circuit boards back on the Xbox One Controller and secure it with the Torx Screwdriver and screws (6).
Step 3: Place the second of the two circuit boards back on the Xbox One Controller and secure it with the Torx Screwdriver and screws (2).
Step 3: Reattach the sync button and home button housing
Step 4: Reattach the triggers, and trigger rumble packs with torx screwdriver and screws (4). Make sure to run the cords for the trigger rumble motors down along the controller
Step 5: Reattach the bumpers
Step 6: Solder the handle and trigger rumble motors back onto the second circuit board.
*If you need help soldering, please read this article or get help: www.sciencebuddies.org/science...
Step 7: Place the joysticks back on the controller. Check to make sure there is no interference with the trigger rumble motors.
Step 8: Reattach the front and back of the controller shell. Secure both of those pieces with a torx screwdriver and screws (4).
Step 9: Replace the controller side panels and battery pack.

We had a right bumper arm that was cracked. With this series of DIY videos I was able to disassemble (with a flat head screwdriver), glue the bumper arm, reassemble (without breaking anything) and present it back to happy husband for more Elder Scrolls fun. Thank you!! I think we will have to replace that arm at some point. Do you have a good parts source?

My bumpers are different than yours were, the whole assembly around the Xbox button was attached as well. Also I recommend borrowing a soldering iron or paying for a good one. I grabbed one that just plugs into the wall and it does not have the heat to soften the solder.

That's a simple fix. You can get a replacement RB/LB button that goes under the cover for the home button. Getting the old one out may be tricky but it should be simple to fix. Just be careful if you choose to completely remove the back as there is a ribbon cable there.

  • @K1LJ0YX

One of the main reasons why I have not upgraded to an elite controller myself (besides the fact that they are very expensive) is the lack of Bluetooth. Now, this may seem like a stupid question but is it possible to take the Bluetooth from a regular Xbox controller somehow and add it to the Elite?

Why did your sync button disappear? It was in the housing next to the xbox guide button, but then when you were getting the triggers back on, you had an edit, and it was gone. The end result was missing it as well. Its the thing I am looking on how to reattach lol.

Hey there. Was wondering if maybe you could provide some insight for me? I’ve had this problem twice now, but I’ve done some DIY Paint projects on two of my controller, and I have this problem where, after everything’s put back together, properly, for some reason, the controller registers that one or both of the triggers is being activated, despite the fact that it isn’t. I really can’t tell what exactly the problem is, but it seems as if the trigger isn’t coming back up 100% of the way, or for some reason the trigger naturally sits at a position where it’s activated. If I manually pull up on the trigger, it does deactivate. But as soon as I let go of it, it reactivates. I was wondering if maybe you had any knowledge on this type of situation, and / or if you know what a fix was. Thanks in advance!

So I ran into an issue. I put my controller back together, even re-soldered the wiring. All the vibrations work, the B button and all the other buttons work except for the AXY buttons. I know it would have to be a problem with the first board, however before I took it apart the problem I had was with the rubber pad for the buttons due to the one under the A button breaking. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

I have this EXACT same problem with my other controller right now! It's definitely an issue you can fix. It could be one of a few things: - Rumble motor wires have moved around and are interfering with the joystick - Something sticky got in the joystick - Something sticky got in the circuit board - Bad circuit board You're going to have to open it up to see what's wrong with it, but you should be able to figure it out without taking just the shell off (check out my first video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4WCurSJnbCseKw.html)

Hey Jake - glad this helped you out. There's definitely a few things that could have happened. Check to make sure your circuitboards are snapped back together. It's a little bit wonky. Also, make sure the battery prongs that stick out are placed properly...I had an issue with that one of the first times I did a controller repair. Finally, double check the home button housing. Also another weird area that could prevent the controller from turning on if anything is wrong. Let me know if any of this stuff works!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! For your bumper, are the clips on the bottom of the bumper broken? Are there any other parts that are broken? If so, you'll need to replace it . And yes, you'll need to open the controller to replace no matter what, but the cool thing is you only need to pull the outer shell off to fix the bumpers (see my video on that here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4WCurSJnbCseKw.html) Even if you don't have to fix it, it's cool to be able to know how to do it if something breaks in the future :)

Ive watched this video a hundred times and I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Everything works fine until I put the back cover on, then the controller goes haywire. This is incredibly frustrating for two reasons. 1, I cant figure out if its the dpad or the right stick and 2, I cant figure out whats causing it. Can anyone help?

Moabdog00 Sure. I'll add it to my video backlog. Now that I learned how to solder it should be much quicker than how long it took to make this video.

Xbox DIY I just think it's stupid how it seems like the elite controllers are designed to break after 5 months this is my second one this year and I'm tired of waiting a month for xbox to fix it

I still dont understand why you unsolder the rumblers i have changed my controller shell without any soldering required its much easier!

You can change the shell without removing solders but to change circuitboards, buttons, etc. you have to remove the solders as they are wrapped around the board.

And I'm not quite sure what I was thinking there - you can indeed change the buttons like you mentioned. This was more of a tear down than anything else, although I've definitely said "use this video to get here". Thanks for the feedback and stopping by!

Hey Ryan - thanks for stopping by. Appreciate the note on the d-pad. I've tried both ways and it's worked, but I think the way you're noting is better. Ya sodder...solder....not sure which way it goes as I've heard it pronounced differently all over the world :)

THANK GOD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE. Also most SAWDUR these days is ROHS and does not contain lead - meaning its pretty much not at all harmful for you(other than the hot SAWDUR iron).

Your camera angle sucks so much. Maybe you have a little zoomed in on the controller itself so people can see how to snap pieces back in.
