I dont have a business but watching yr videos is inspiring me that i could start something. It seems like a minimum tools kind of business

Include in your price per meter, the depreciation value of your gear, the cleaning products used and the time it will take you to do the cleaning. Try to remember that after taxes only half of the price paid will end up in your pocket. So set 1/2 of the money aside to fulfill your VAT and tax bills. Add to that : 1) price for travel per km two ways including your time - gas - insurance - taxes - depreciation value of your vehicle and tires and mean price for maintenance of your vehicle. 2) price for setting up on site including the time you took to make the quote and the time you will take to send an invoice, the time you will take to check for payments (I would advise to take payment immediately with a handheld payment device so you don't need to charge your time for that - but you do charge the costs of use of that device), add also what your accountant charges you to process each invoice for your taxes 3) foresee in your contract surcharges for when drainages are blocked and you will need to unblock them or foresee that blocked drainages are not in included, if you don't have the tools to unblock them. 4) surcharge for window rinsing (+ setup and clearing time). Do not undercharge your time and don't forget to charge overhead costs (advertisement, insurance, rent, accounting fees, payroll etc...)or you will soon abandon the business as you wont make a living wage out if it. Not everyone has a succesfull KZread channel to supplement their income. Succes to everyone who wants to give it a go. Use your first year to learn about all the costs involved and divide them by the number of hours of work you did, for van/car related costs divide them by the number of kilometer driven for jobs that year. Yes, it does take some effort to keep all administration, but if you don't you are going blind and will discover too late that you are not making enough profit. An option the first year is to have a part time job (working on for example Monday to Wednesday) have a fixed wage out of that activity and start your business working from Thursday to Saturday. After a year do the math or have someone help you do the math and calculate what you should be charging, if you were to do this job full time from Monday to Thursday - while keeping Fridays as a day for doing admin, planning in positive responses to your quotes in your workschedule and sending new quotes.

Thanks for these types of videos. Even as a new home-owners, I've been able to use these types of videos to help myself not get swindled out of some exorbitant prices. Of course, I have to convert to USD, and consider location and house type...but people trying to charge $325 just to pressure-wash the back of house (only the back) was a bit insane. So, thanks again for sharing these realistic pricing tips.

I run a pressure washing business, And if you don't clean the entire house ( NOT JUST ONE SIDE!) the house will be back to green faster than killing the entire organic system. And yes if I give you a price of say $450 to soft wash your house and you just want the 1 side done, I would cut it down to $325, That price is to try and make you see the light of how to do it right, You see I place signs in the yard when i am done, and no washer wants a rep for doing half-ass work. so yeah, only the uneducated asks for part of the house to be cleaned. do you brush just 3 teeth? do you just wipe half your backside? I hope this educates you a bit!!!! Oh, and the chem time truck insurance ect. It cost just to pull up to a home to do the work $325 is cheap for quality work.

No wonder I'm skint I've been well under charging , I actually stopped doing it as I was getting too much work but not charging enough , I didn't think people would pay it , defo starting to push it again now I know the standard of pay

Good video mate, since adding gutter cleaning and clearing to my arsenal last year it’s gone mental, yesterday alone 4 jobs came in... brilliant time of year for it! Although... I’ve been booking them in for mid afternoons due to the minus temperatures and frozen gutters in the mornings 😂

Thank you so much for this video Sid, I wish I'd seen this yesterday... I have just quoted for a gutter and facia clean ( not clearing gutters) and I think I have massively undercharged. No wonder the customer said yes so quickly. I will still do the job for the quoted price as I'm just starting out and will not let the customer down. I quoted fine for the windows so hopefully will be a long term customer. I guess we chalk it down to experience and move on. Did you ever make this mistake when you first started?

Do you have any idea how much or how that is done? @@TradMan Mate your vids have kickstarted probably hundreds of careers by this point, there's guys ive known in the industry for years that have decades under their belt that still learn new things from your vids. Started this channel in september last year and had you & mackintosh as a target to set my goals on to get to that level at some point, have my own little niche focusing on mainly roof cleaning but a bit of windows, gutters and pressure washing on the side. hopefully the cleaning expo is on this year if you're heading to it as i'd love to hang out for a chat.

Pricing up roof cleaning and driveway would be good Video's

I use a long length of timber with some rounded plastic screwed to the end and then I just scrape my gutters out.

I know some windys who add in the cost of a window clean to the price as all the drips coming off facia make windows dirty as well. Great tips, thanks.

I do £80 bungalow £100 semi £130 large house If it’s a mansion then obviously about £150+ All done with a sky vac £120 for gutter and fascia wash and use my jet wash with long pole turbo nozzle on low pressure! Never have any problems getting them prices and I live down on south coast

What do you do if you get a job and you don’t see that they have gutter guard until after you’ve made a deal do you just clean the top of the gutter or do you remove the guard and clean inside the gutter

Honestly mate these jobs are really quick for me anyway, for what I charge if I was any quicker I’d start getting funny customers feeling like they’ve overpaid! Every now and again I’ll use some chemicals but often find it’s not that needed on an average clean 👍

What should I quote by meter if its just outside gutters I ain't climbing no ladder x

You can get a gutter vac if you're afraid of heights :D But if not probably around 6 quid a meter I usually charge

5million public liability & 10 million employers liability with specifics for the type of job etc, pressure washing, general exterior cleaning, the list goes on, I’ve even got aircraft cleaning for one video 😂 The injury thing comes under health insurance etc but they wouldn’t cover anything from falling from a ladder these days. Access tool not a working tool so we have to be careful where we use them and for how long for.

You can start out extremely cheap it’s a great business to open, the hard part is getting enough work to survive. If you do manage it it will exponentially grow and you’ll need more expensive equipment if you take on the bigger jobs. I’d say it only really gets costly to run the business once you have a couple of vans and some big machines but by that point you’ll be earning a lot so it balances out if you keep up the hustle 👍

Looking at starting a similar business but would not be able to buy all the gear to do drive cleaning roof cleaning water fed poles etc so any tips on the best way to start? Should I start window cleaning and build from there or jet washing first etc

I’d recommend window cleaning as it’s regular work to get your face in the areas.. you can sell extra services to your customers and their neighbours. That’s how most of us have started up 👍

Phew to do everything you’re looking at a good 2-3k to do it half decently. If you wanted to do it all efficiently then it would be no less than 5k at a push. There’s always a way to skimp and scrape to start with though, I’d recommend just tackling windows and gutter and facia cleaning, (relatively low cost) then branch out into drives, then roofs. An efficient roof cleaning setup will set you back the most

Yeah and then the dedicated poles to scrape and soft wash, your chemical delivery setup, PPE, and then covering the costs of chemicals and scaffolding, When starting your first few jobs you can be in the minus for a few before you start profiting but it’s worth persisting :)

Do it mate, I get near enough every quote with my prices but these jobs come from referrals and adverts for me not regular window cleaning customers. I always had more problems charging high with regular customers. Their windows are £15 so they presume the guttering would be the same.

If u quote say 60 to clear gutters do u still charge the same if the gutter is clear or would u discount it? Great vids m8 very helpful

If it was clear I’d just charge a call out/inspection fee but wouldn’t be much. I wouldn’t ever charge for work that doesn’t need to be done. Can be annoying sometimes but the honesty goes a long way. Cheers mate all the best

More like 25 minutes but how do you value your time? I’m not getting up and paying thousands a year on insurance, north of £500 a month on fuel, no sick pay, no holiday pay, sourcing all my own work and being away from my kids every day for £12 an hour that’s for sure!

Not everyone has a guttervac or ladders. £65.00 is far cheaper then calling out a plasterer or painter when all the water backs into your property. As a business myself people sometimes don't realise the overheads we have and cost of equipment. This is why we charge what we do.

I enjoyed your content. I'm thinking about starting this myself. One question I do have if you have the time to answer, is how do you secure your ladders on awkward angles and so fourth? If you can't get a 75 degree angle? Is there a mat you use? Or do you use a pipe cleaner to clear it? Thanks. I've liked the video for you.
