Thank you for this tutorial. I felt like you were just sitting across the table from me. I like your fun attitude!! Thanks for sharing.
You are the BEST most easy to understand teacher
You are MY KIND OF Woman!!!! Don't be afraid to make mistakes. I love it.
Beginner quilter here. Thank you for your tutorial! Subscribed.
You are my new favorite person 😂I giggled all through your tutorial and now I’m off to make my own blanky ! Thank you !!
I'm watching in 2024! 🥰
This is what I was looking for. It took hours and variations on my search, but then I found this!
Ms Darlene...I'm back on this video again. I can't say it enough you gave me the confidence to begin sewing at the age of 56. I am about to start my son's Dr. Seuss quilt using this method. You are straight forward on the how toos...and you never over explain. Short, Sweet and to the Point!
A couple of years ago I saw this and was inspired enough to start of quilt for a friend...but never finished. Since then I have recently watched about a dozen other QAYG videos, got inspired again, and returned to your video. Your method is, by far, the quickest and easiest. (Most of the others require cutting of narrow batting strips, sashing strips, and backing strips to join the rows. That is a whole lot more work, and for what?) Thank you, Darlene.
😊Darlene, since I discovered your method several years ago, I have been using your simple and easy method. By far the best for QAYG. Thank you Darlene. Elizabeth Diaz
That’s a great looking quilt. Thanks for sharing ur tips.
And thank you, i meant to say thank you for your hard work doing this for us! 🤗
I always come back to this video. She's amazing.
Thank you for sharing this video, loved how simple it was to follow and you have a great personality. I am a complete beginner but always wanted to make a memory blanket for my boys from their baby tshirts. They had sat in a box for 5 years, and your video gave me the inspiration and encouragement to have ago. I worked with fleece so very challenging for a first project but your words about "being the champion of doing it that way" when making a mistake helped me not to have too many hang ups about getting it prefect. My blankets look awesome and I really enjoyed doing it. Thank you ❤
This is the best Quilt as you instruction. Thank you
OMG you are a riot! Love you tell it like it is. ❤ I've been Crocheting & put quilting on back burner. Finishing my WIPs, and going to return to some quilting!
Best quilt as you go video I’ve seen . Thank you
Thank you so much for this Darlene - you’ve taken the fear out of doing a quilt and I smiled all the way through. You have such a great personality and you’re so funny. You really cheered me up x
Thank you Darlene! I have found your method of joining QAYG the best so far. So deceptively easy!! Just awesome! Evey
I love your videos. You make me feel comfortable and less of a perfectionist. You’ve taught me a lot. You’re a great teacher 😘
I made a king size log cabin quilt as you go. It came out beautiful! Used my domestic sewing machine. It CAN be done!
Hallo Darlene, I really love your tutorials, so much simpler and with humor. 😊 I also have seen yours about ragquilt. I started this year for the first time a quilt to go , just 2 more blocks . Thank you for your sharing your information. ❤
You're a great tutor!! I've been looking for a "go as you go" quilting" for a long time and this is great!!! 😀
Woah, i love that method! And you have such a wonderful personality that puts me at ease and makes me feel confident in my journey. I just started my first quilt and i wish i had found you first, because it has... "character" 😂. I'm going to do your method next for sure. Love and light, shalom! 💖🙏🕊

Susanne Bender - Constantino I've been looking for this method also, I love it.
I'm so glad I found this! Thanks for the info. I used your method to make a 3 block by 4 block hanging quilt for my sister's bday. I put a small group of photos and quotes in each block, using any stitch I wanted, then put it together. A labor of love, but I'm loving the result - thanks, again!

Your quilt is beautiful I loved it. What a great method. Thanks for shearing
Quilting is so supposed to be fun! Darlene is one of those people who seems to enjoy it and makes it fun. She is so entertaining and down to earth.
I am a intricate quilter, but when I watch your programs I am so impressed that I have to stop my quilting to catch some great ideas from you. Thanks
"Get down dumb dumb" 😂😂 I call my husband a dumb dumb all the time, so I died when you said that! Sounds like something I would say to him. You're always so funny! Love you Darlene!
Love Love LOVE this tutorial.....and really enjoy your teaching personality :)

Thanks for watching!
Absolutely Amazing! You did it again!!!!! So beautiful!!!💖
I love your video. Very easy to follow and understand. You mentioned rag quilts. I make rag quilts all the time. When I make one, I do the snipping as I go along. It's so much easier if you snip each row when you add it to the previous row. Then, when you're finished, all that's left to snip is around the edge. Done. :D
Hi, Darlene: I just found your channel today. You are absolutely charming and I love your enthusiasm and attitude, especially about things not having to be perfect. I also admire that you are taking care of your mother and that you let her know how much you love and cherish her by making her a beautiful and special quilt for her 94th birthday ( I watched that video earlier). Letting her pick the fabrics and then finding a way to work the lace into the quilt was also a loving gesture - you are a wonderful daughter. I lost my mom to Alzheimer's 5 years ago. She taught me to sew when I was very young on an old Singer treadle machine, which I still have and which still works! I miss her everyday - I would welcome the chance to sew something special for her. May life's richest blessings be yours always.
Hi Darlene~Ever since I watch your crazy quilt tote bag video I've been making 8"x8" crazy squares for a quilt one day. They are adorable and it was you that inspired the idea. I love your crazy quilt! Great job!
Absolutely love your tutorials, you are so down to earth ...and you make it so fun. Thanks for that. Have a great day!
Personality and instructions, love it! Couldn't stop watching, giggling, AND big bonus, learning!
I just love her tutorials so much. she is so fun. And into making it as stress free as possible. Makes quilting wonderful.
Thanks, I am going to try this method of quilting. Love your big crazy quilt !! Love how you teach , too !!
Thank you so much. Because of my hands I had to stop my quilting. But you showed me how to bring my joy back. I have happy tears thank you thank you
Aside from a quilt I made in the 1970s, I've had no quilting experience until about two years ago. I stumbled across an excellent video on making a rag quilt. I thought, "I can do this!" and proceeded to make a lap quilt for my young granddaughter. Since then, I've joined a quilting group at my church (we make quilts for those in need) and am now doing "regular" quilting. Recently, I made a 60"x60" quilt top, and using my quilt top, I chose a thicker batting than usual, plus the backing, and I quilted it. Oh, my goodness! This was an agonizing endeavor, and I realized that such future quilts will have to be quilted by someone else. The arthritic pain in my hands is just too great to do this on my machine. So, I reasoned, I also need another means of quilting-as- go than just rag quilts. HAPPILY, I stumbled across your video. I just completed a four-block sample following your directions, and it turned out beautifully! I'm going to use this technique to make a larger throw for my adult grandson's birthday present. I'm so excited about doing this project. Thank you for sharing your method with us!
making my first quilt...watched a ton of quilting videos..confusing... then I found you...you showed me exactly what I wanted and needed to know...finished my quilt..minor adjustments on my part... and am totally thrilled about it finished... probably I would still be watching videos if I had not found you... thank you so much...
Thank you Darlene. You taught this newbie to quilting something useful and made me laugh! Love that you still have (and use)your grandmother's pins.
what a great personality. And for once, someone made sense with this method. Thank you!
Love your crazy quilt---absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!
Loved the instructions! Great video to watch and learn that quilting should be fun!
My oldest granddaughter lives in New Orleans and I in NC. She is just starting to learn quilting on her own, I told her to watch this that it will help her with the binding part.
Love how you give suggestions for correcting things when it is not quite perfect. Lovely. 💖
I tried to add a comment and it disappeared because the next video started up, GAH! I love your videos. You have such a relaxed style and your creativity flows. I wish I could add a picture of the project I want to quilt as I go. I drew pictures of kitty cats with fabric pens and added crazy quilt around the borders and ended up with 22 by 22 inch squares. I want to do free style quilting around each kitty cat so the quilt as you go quilting will work the best. Thank you for being such an inspiring teacher. I am going to be very busy because this is going to be made to fit my king size bed. I am a crazy cat lady and this quilt will express my love for cats and crazy.
LOVE your video. NO stress just fun, fun, and enjoy. Love crazy quilting, my favorite. Great job. More coffee and sewing time with Darlene video's PLEASE!
Love all your videos. I saw the more recent one of your quilt for your mother this year. You are such a joy to watch. I have learned so much. Keep the camera rolling. We love you.
Beautiful ! - Your talent never ceases to amaze me !
Love, love, love! your tutorial is so simple to follow and you make it fun. I always wanted my grandma to teach me how to make a quilt, but she passed away when I was very young and I lost the motivation to sew. Thank you so much for this video. Gives me the inspiration to get back into sewing!
I am so happy to have found you! I've been putting off making curtains for my kitchen for 7 years. I think I'm ready now, thanks to you.
YOUR QUILT IS GORGEOUS!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!
This is even easier than some of the traditional ways of joining QAYG. Thank you for sharing!
Darlene, you are super special, love your tutorials.keep up your good work.
Sewing is not something that I can do but love to watch you do your projects, They always look so nice when you are done!!
You crack me up..love to listen to you explain stuff...down to earth and no frills...great QAYG way for us newbies....
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am making a queen size quilt for my mom and I was stressing over the backing, but after watching this, I believe I can do the quilt-as-you-go method and make it that way...since I don't have a long arm quilt machine and it is going to be such a large quilt. I love your accent, by the way!
Love your instructional videos and your sense of humor. Thanks for sharing Darlene!
My mind is Blown. That makes it SOOOooooo much easier. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing technique. I can not wait to get home to work on my quilt!!! Woooo hoooo!!!
Thanks Darlene. This is the best tutorial I have found and I have now started a single quilt thanks entirely to your wonderfully clear instructions x
Within the first three seconds of this video I said "Hello Darlene" out loud :) Thank you so much for the video!
This is probably the easiest and best explanation of how to QAYG!!! Super great video!!!
Darlene you're amazing. I'm so glad I found your videos. I've never made a quilt before but your videos make me feel like I can. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
I haven't quilted in years. Forgot everything I learned. I am so happy I found you! Thank you for this tutorial💕
I've been researching quilting to exhaustion... this video has made me want to jump to my sewing machine today and just do it. Thank you Darlene... New sub!!!!
I have to tell you, I made this with a log cabin pattern, and I loved it . I used it to bring all my stuff to my granddaughter's wedding. Big success!!!
You are such a good teacher! Thank you Darlene.
I love love your ability to embrace an imperfect line stating there's no such thing as perfect! I think you've helped us all to stop beating ourselves up over it! ❤💋
Love the way you show and talk about the sewing. Thanks please don't ever give up . Love Tracey Minton uk
Yeah! Down to earth person. Down to earth methods. A lot of other. Ideas make things look so intimidating and I always feel I need to do my hair and dress up before I try something along with them. Thank you so much for being there. ❤️
I started this project awhile ago, but I started it up again and I’ll almost thru with it. It was so easy and as soon as I have the rest of the fabric I’ll be thru with it and I’ll post a pic of it. I will definitely be doing another on. Thanks for showing this project
Oh My Darlene!! You are a very straight forward gettin down to business lady! I love it!! Gonna try this technique on my next quilt project and I cant wait to get started. You have inspired me. Thank you! And never change the awesome lady that you are.
Thank you for showing this easy QUAG. I loved it and I made my son’s T-shirt quilt for him this year. Saved shirts from when he was a kid then made the quilt when he came to visit this past spring. Your rag quilt and this tutorial gave me the ideas and it turned out perfectly un-perfect. He loved it.
You may have just cured me of my unconscious trait of always needing to be a perfectionist. I will now become The Champion of all my little imperfections. What a GREAT perspective to have! I may actually finish something now...THANK YOU!

I am still a perfectionist but also determined to get projects done. So I pushed through mistakes but always felt horrid about them. Now I try really hard to just not care. And by showing others it does not really matter, I'm starting to really believe what I say! LOL And really, what does it matter? If what we make is functional and loved, that's the important thing.
Thank you so much for this!!! I’m a beginner quilter (VERY new beginner, making my first one) and was getting overwhelmed with talk of bindings, double starching, etc.! This tutorial blew my mind and made the process so much easier. I feel much more at ease and confident about getting my project ready on time, as it’s a Christmas gift for my sister. Thank you a million!!! Your screen personality is wonderful and I love how you explain things...I can’t wait to watch more of your videos!!
I am watching you right now. You are the best instructor I have ever viewed. I watched this a year or 2 ago. I am going to use it today on my son's quilt... I totally love you for this video...
Darlene, This is exactly what I needed to learn to finish my scrappy quilt I made over a year ago. Thank U for your easy, informative tutorial! That is a lovely quilt.U R making. And...my 401 says HI to your 401 (I think...). Danielle
I love your tutorials! Slow and steady and super informative and best of all fun. I am new to quilting and I no longer fear quilting world. I love the tote bags too. My family that lives in California have to use their own bags when they shop so I will be making some fun sports team totes and stuff. Thanks again.
You rock!! Love your tutorials. ~ great for a "new to quilting" person ~ me. Keep them coming. Please 😎. I'm working on quilts for grand babies and I'm on information overload. Your projects seem doable because you explain and demonstrate so well! Thank you!
Great instructions ! Voice u can hear , no rush n good explations , it’s awful to try to hear some videos . Love Darlene’s tutorials , go girl go ,! A satisfied quilter learning qaug ,mary.
I love watching Darlene's videos. She is so easy going, funny, down to earth. She is someone I think would be a good, fun person to be friends and hang with. Wish I lived close enough to visit! You're a doll Darlene.
You have inspired me. I have made an entire double bed quilt this weekend. I worked from left to right and it was easy peasy. Thank you I love your channel so much
I just saw this yesterday by luck, it is going to save me so much time. I have the squares cut for a child's quilt and will be starting it later today.
I can't wait to try this out, what a brilliant way to make a quilt or tote bag 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Omg thank you for making this not as threatening for a newbie like me! LOVE your sense of humor. Ty again.
This is the best video i have ever watched, i have been trying to understand the methods of QAYG, and not dared trying yet, now i am psyched! I have to make an 1 x 2 foot runner for small table. This will be the perfect trial run. Thank you for making this video, i can,t wait to see what other videos you have available
I had to giggle about your, "If you want you can iron this down. You know, that's a good idea! I'm going to go do that!" You're such a good teacher, you're teaching yourself! :D Thanks for the great tutorial! I'm excited to try this now!
Love your way of teaching . It’s simple, clear cut, and full of fun. Love your personality. Thanks
I LOVE this tutorial and don't kid yourself - you are a wonderful teacher! Thanks for breaking it down into understandable segments. I am now ready to try my own hand at QAYG!
This is awesome. I sew side by side with my 12 year old, so I can teach her. We will be making one of these.

Easiest for me to understand qayg method I've seen! And believe me, I've scoured around everywhere trying to figure out how to do this method. Thank you so much Darlene.
Darlene ! thanks so much for these tutorial! you teach how my grandmother would have if she were still with us! i waited to long to try and benefit from her awesome knowledge of quilting , and you've absolutely made a GREAT SUB! im taking on this technique as my first Quilt as you go ! cross your fingers for me !
This is amazing! I tried a quilt similar to this years ago and it was so hard. I have never made another but a friend from church whose wife died gave me her sewing stuff. She had lots of material cut into squares that I have wanted to do something with. This is it! And I'm going to use your idea of no batting so it will be lightweight. Thanks.
T.Y. for a good common sense approach to the QAYG projects. I've been researching QAYG for several years and this is the first one that makes it easier and skips "hand-sewing". Keep these ideas coming, I'm an avid fan now.
I must say: I have been sewing for a time now. but watching different video's along the way! And i must say you have been fun to watch...have more real life fun making more video's
Darlene, Thankx so much for this tutorial! I now know how to finish a quilt top I made over a year ago. I do the 'scrappy/crazy' quilting and wasn't sure how to put them together without the 'busy-ness' that would occur with simply attaching them to each other. Your method will be PERFECT! Thank U again. As well - your 'u-r-perfect-no-matter'...such a lovely, ACCEPTING approach to ANYTHING, in life! Danielle
