You're the first youtube video that I've seen that says to turn the tow vehicle's steering hard over in case the vehicle starts to roll back into the water. Better to run into the dock than submerge in the water. Priceless tip! Gave you a thumbs up.

My nuance is different, I launch at a ramp where there IS NO dock--you need to drive the boat from where I drop her in TO the dock, maybe 500 yards away. Don''t get me wrong, I don't boat alone so the other guy parks the trailer, we meet at the dock but if I were alone there really is no way to avoid crawling from the trailer to the boat. One aid I just saw is a welded ladder on the trailer to the boat.

Never owned a 4wd although it is helpful. The key is to have the right amount of tongue weight on hitch and watch how far you back up. Good Luck!

Fortunately, most ramps in my area are decent. 4wd definitely helps on those sketchy ramps though.

You seriously leave the boat in gear while loading it on the trailer? Personally I wouldn’t ever leave the helm with the boat in gear. Exception being trolling if absolutely necessary. Even then I’d bungee the wheel and not feel good about.

@@CaptOrlandoMuniz I think that what most new boaters struggle with. They have trouble approaching the dock slow enough, because you have to put in neutral, leave the helm, go to the bow, and jump on the dock to tie up. That sequence is even difficult for seasoned Captains

It can be intimidating, especially when the wind or current is strong. I’ve done it thousands of times and every so often it can get challenging.
