I had to smile about that "you look cool or you are comfortable". Like you, I prefer to look cool. Though I took the Mandalorian route. My first life-sized costume is the Boba Fett post-sarlacc. It is well under way, and I wore it already once (with a hastily painted and already stripped helmet) to one event. Without ventilation. Boy, did it feel hot, and did it feel cool! So - did I go for a Jedi with my next costume? No...Mando again. This time basically a full plate harness, mostly made of aluminium and black leather. Some red thrown in here and there (helmet is 3d printed though). I hope to get both approved by the Mando Mercs (the metal stuff is doubtful, it may be too much in the realm of a medieval suit of armour. But we shall see. I am doing my best to squeeze the Mando in there.).

Fingers crossed in getting your Mano armour cleared. What's important is that it makes you feel great wearing it and love the reactions from others. Sounds like you've put a lot of effort into it, so I bet it looks amazing!

It's strangely a subject not mentioned much despite those that wear the armour do so allllllllll day. Might do a KZread video dedicated to it but then might be banned soon after :D

The joke is that Finns undersuit when he took of the armor in eo 7 was anything but an actual undersuit. It was too loose and 2 piece and no shiny butt. Even worse werr his shoes, where did he got those grey shoes in the middle of the desert??

I haven't looked into this myself, but I always imagined that's how Han Solo knew that Finn was an ex Stormtrooper, from what he was wearing. Mainly the shoes, since he'd had to wear the uniform too at some point or another.

His shoes were white at the start of the film but when he crashed landed and walked threw the dirty burnt sand his shoes got even more dirty and he walked all the way to town in jakku so they got even more grimy. If you look closely it is the same shoe as every other trooper. Just way more dirty

@@kibainuzuka858 nope, it is way different than regular stormtrooper boots, it has a ribbed texture on the top. Google FN 2187 boots.

i commend ya mate i ordered the pre made ...just don't have the space to do it but my bday is a few days before hallloween and hopefully going to get my first order suit before! i have the fitted anovovs helmet and same boots (lol not new hope) but everything ready to go even gloves so watching again so when it happens I know...thanks man!

wow super cool armor! i got the child one when i was younger for only 200, now its 300!grew out of it ages ago, will buy the adult version soon cant wait!

Thank you :) No matter your height you can tailor armour to your proportions. Regarding Mando, sorry I don't know where to get the full armour. However, check out the Facebook groups as they will tell you the best places to go - lots of made producers out there.

I just got my Denuo Novo complete kit(ordered in 2016... arg!). I'm slowly building and watching these vids as a guide. Love it! Question is: do you HAVE to paint all of the armour? I can see here and there to cover bondo/slurry/epoxy. But painting the whole thing feels.... unneeded. And another variable to worry about with wear and tear. Why did you decide to do it? (Side note: it seems like my helmet white is a shade off of the armour. And I know that's a big factor too).

Thank you for your support :) To get a uniform finish, you'll need to paint everything. You'll see the difference in shade and texture immediately if you decide to only paint where filler is applied. Regarding wear & tear, this will happen when used and you'll have to make repairs which is the added benefit to paint everything, as it'll be easy to hide the cracks you repaired later. Difference in shade can stand out depending how different it is. Note, compare the helmet & armour outside under day light conditions rather interior lighting. Some troopers respray the helmet in the same paint they did the armour. Or do what I did, and find a white that looks exact to the helmet and just paint the armour. Hope this advice helps :)

@@CaptainsDrydock this does help. There was a recent video of a 501st member discussing his armour. Not a tutorial, more of a review. I've sure you've seen it (if not I'll send you the link). He said he didn't paint the armour. But you raise good points. A uniform white is ideal and prob what the 501st wants. It's great to see you responding to questions. Thanks Captain!

I cancelled my order a few years ago and received a full store credit from Denuo Novo. Seen lots of posts of customers receiving theirs recently. Tempting to order one, but seeing I have a completed Imperial Surplus set there's no point.

I'm looking at purchasing one of these suits. I saw that anovos makes a suit as well but its a bit more expense. What made you go with the imperial surplus one?

Like many, I ordered from Anovos, but they didn't fulfil their armour order for years if at all. So I cancelled it. After much investigation at the time the next best armour kit was produced by Imperial Surplus. As the owner was the original designer of the first Anovos version of the kit before he made his own business. Stands to reason why it's very accurate - enough to pass 501st standards. Anovos has since been bought by Denuo Novo and now (in my opinion) produce the best kits on the market using a vac-form technique to make well defined details and edges. So if you have the money - buy Denuo Novo but if you have a tight budget, Imperial Surplus is still good enough to make you look and feel you walked off the set. Hope this feedback helps as I did waffle on a bit :D

While I hate the Disney movies. Their imperial designs were pretty good. Outside of the officers that is. The ships looked great, the armor looked cool, ships looked better then their og versions. However the movies were just terrible lol

@@CaptainsDrydock same 😂. It’s the only good one. Especially if you’ve watched the behind the scenes of the originals released in the 2000s. The idea of force awakens is basically George’s original crew. They simply ruined it follow up movies and bad writing.
