    As a former automotive technician myself (I worked for GM even though I drive Fords haha) and I will NEVER understand Ford’s SHEER STUPIDITY WITH THIS DESIGN!! If you want to make them smaller than the front fine, but WHY TF can’t they operate the same as the front at least instead of having to either go buy or rent a special tool just to be able to compress the calipers back?

    I wondered and marvelled day and night about those damned drain plugs as i found myself stripping the fucking thing from folowwing a simple oil drain video, rule number 1? Look directly at the rusted part you are about to work on and buy its replacement immediately before you either break or strip it. That way you wont have to worry about OEM and all that just break the fucker off and be done with it.

    If you can, rent the tool set from an auto parts store. I had to do this plier trick because I didn’t know the car I was working on had this style caliper and the parts store was closed already. It works, however there is a chance of damaging the piston boot if you’re not careful. The tool makes it hassle free and ensures the boot doesn’t get damaged.

    No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no!! There are tools designed specifically for those types of brakes!!!! Either get the right tool or don't half ass the job. Not only is using a player's going to be harder to do it but you'll likely wear out the edges so a tool will become ineffective and you'll likely slip busting your knuckles or your face or something in the process. Do not do half-ass work take pride in your profession and do a good job every time all the time.

    1 side is clockwise and the other side is counter clockwise and your better off using a c clamp with light pressure and a pair of channel locks to spin the piston if you dont have rhe proper tool because if you take a big chip out of that piston it will cause uneven load on the brake pads

    Don't know what kind of car that is but GM makes a special tool for the rear calipers it looks like a block and has a square in the middle of each side so you can turn it with a 3/8 socket handle.

  • @thegovernment0usa
    @thegovernment0usa8 ай бұрын

    I have a little cube that fits different shapes of brake pistons. It snaps on to a socket wrench, but that doesn't apply pressure to push it in while turning it. So what i do is: 1, put the little cube in place on the piston and secure it to the caliper with a clamp (carefully, because the caliper is an awkward shape for clamps). 2, gradually alternate between a) turning the piston (by sticking something through the hole in the cube and applying leverage) and b) slightly stepping up the pressure on the clamp. a, b, a, b... Then after ten thousand a-b cycles, the piston is usually getting close to being out of the way. Good luck!
