I played baseball all the way up to getting cut from AAA walk-ons and one thing Ive found in creating power in sport is that there are some fundamental mechanics that carry over regardless of the sport, THIS being one of them. This footwork is actually called a "crow hop" and he described the force physics perfectly, multiplying the force of the blow by adding the inertia of your directional momentum to the rotational force of hips, shoulder and elbow. The same technique as throwing a ball as hard as you can. LOVE this dudes vids!

Indeed! And did you know that the way our body is shaped compared to apes, makes us deadlier, even though our arms are nothing compared to a Gorilla. However, the way our body is designed and able to transfer weight without falling, and releasing either a projectile or a fist, is one of the reasons we are the Apex Predators on this planet. Our communication and our 20-year-long brain development (allowing parents to teach what they know and more) is also a major factor, but would mean nothing if we couldn't throw a rock at a foe with big teeth.

@@chrisgould101 yes I think they are. However unless someone more or less is looking the other way, extremely difficult to land. They are designed to knock out in one blow, you would spent hours and hours practicing that one punch doing thousands of knuckle press ups to harden your knuckles. The reality of the situation is that the boxing jab is the fastest punch, boxers are fitter and have the ability to read the moves of their opponent and have more punches to call on. You can become a competent boxer in 3 months, while in karate it takes 3 years.

@@henrysevern I was watching kumite matches and notice that during kicks most have a tendency to open the target area up. I haven't mastered the punch, though my upper body is probably my biggest asset in karate so it makes sense to work on it. I can do it straight or coming upwards sort of like , a body uppercut and it connects on an angle drivin my knuckles in. I don't know if I've explained the technique properly but have been practicing! I imagine the best way to do it is WITH an upper diagonal forearm block,, them unleash it , it can conceal the whole punch. It obscures what they can see quite a bit. It's one movement the punch domes from underneath the block. Chubby Surprise!! Ouchy. I think it may work as a counter to a kick

Tony, thanks for the great content on your channel. I have a question. After working on a heavy bag the next day when I do my sparring I feel like I'm very stiff. My muscles are very tight and sore. After shadow boxing, sparring and pads, there is no such thing. Maybe you can do an episode with tips on how to stay loose after working on a heavy bag. Also, our coach makes us stop working out with a heavy bag a week before a fight and I heard that many coaches practice this. Is it really effective before a fight in order to relax your muscles ?

Grip strength, wrist and shoulder cuff stability, hard as nails joint angle: not the fastest punch but the ultra tuddin one. Tried myself the overhand lead hook, you dont even need much effort to put some torque behind the punch

Your bodyweight coming forward along with proper leverage generated by the hips and torso are why this punch maximizes your power potential. This is literally the hardest you can possibly punch.

My hardest punch is the overhand because of my build. If I were to step forward with the same footwork I think it would generate more power. I could use a jab while coming in and then deliver a pretty hard and unexpected shot.

He has the potential to punch though. He's knocked enough people over with his girly handbag right hand. Incredible to think what damage he could do if he could actually box.
