I wish there was a good skate park in my neighborhood where there aren't a tons of boys and experienced skaters looking at me. I have to learn to feel comfortable on my skates and I know what to do for that. I also realize that falling on my ass is part of the deal, but I don't want people watching me being clumsy.

Naomi Bousson I completely get this I have been the skatepark maybe five times over the past two years because I was feeling the same but I've just now becomes comfortable with sit and stopped being embarrassed about falling. I wish I'd just kept going earlier because I think of the progress I would have made by now. All you've got remember is that anyone with wheels on looks cool as f**k and the more you go the less nervous you are an the more skilled you become

Omg I’m so proud of myself I learned to skate down a ramp on my first day at the skate park!! It’s been about a month now since my first time and I’m loving it!!

Indy, you have great positive energy and are a kick to watch! Your method of instruction is right on too, as it's very helpful for those just starting to get comfortable with the basics. Joanna Ibarra yes I have the same issue I use light poles buildings utility boxes anything secured to the ground to stop or slow down when if I'm going any faster than a roll. I have yet to build the confidence and maybe the skill to turn around or transition at any speed other than a slow roll

Any advice on specifically pumping backward? I feel like I have the timing right but I tend to slow down when I go backward so I have trouble gaining height.

I got a pair of roller skates from target and their coming in the mail today

Pigeon needs a higher heel to be able to get into a deeper squat. I have the same problem (long femur, short tibia) so I got some Harlicks cut down a full inch in the ankle with the highest heel they can add to get my weight far forward enough to drop into a coffin and help me commit into transitions. Hope it helps anyone who can’t figure out why they can’t hang their butt as low as Indy and is completely stuck on anything in a crouch

I live in two super hilly areas (North Jersey and the rural outskirts of Scranton-Wilkesbarre) but I want to be able to skate. Okay so the problem I seem to have when skating a transition I think it's called is rolling up backwards. I can pump going up and coming down backwards but when it's time to go up the other side backwards I can't seem to stay balanced.
