That tip if keeping your weight on the outside foot was so helpful! Im usualy fine carving one way, but when I tried to go my least fave way, I kept on wiping out. These episodes are always so helpful!! 💙🤩

Thank you so much for making this video!! ❤️ I just can't seem to carve correctly. Thank you!
My favorite of your tips that I will try next: 1. Use your whole shoulder to direct yourself 2. Look far ahead at where you’re going 3. Try stuff for technique but then use your own style. Thanks Indy! I really get a lot out of your videos. It’s clear you love teaching and you put a lot of work into creating good quality content ✌️
Can your next video be on how to get out of a bowl? I always get stuck in them : (

Get some speed up, running or skating straight at the edge of the bowl. Let your momentum carry you up the transition a little and then run up on your toe stops. Then plant your hands onto the deck and pull up and out!

Another awesome tutorial with a lot of helpful tips. My top ah-ha moments: to keep weight on outside foot despite which leg is first, keeping eye on next target, and stretching forward with open shoulders. I can't wait for more ramp tutorials!

Inside foot meaning closest to the wall?
@harperhoran
3 жыл бұрын
@@ingenuehairlashesbyngozi7996 *Outside* foot, which would be the one opposite the direction of travel. So, if you're carving to the left then the right foot bears the weight, and if you're carving right it would be the left foot. For me this explained why I'm most comfortable carving left, b/c I'm more comfortable using my right leg most of the time whereas carving to the right requires that I rely on my weakest (left) leg, which feels unstable to me.
Love the spongebob reference she used for this lesson 🌈✨
I've just started playing roller derby, I'm a few months in, 110% sucking at crossovers, but loving it anyways.. I'm going out to buy outdoor wheels next week, so I can skate outside.. just to skate as much as possible. I'm in love.
@charliezxi

ElectriKitty 78a is THE durometer measurement for outdoor wheels -I skated over 375 miles last summer, trying many different wheels. Atom Poison and kryptonic Route 70’s are fantastic, but get just a few sizes over your derby wheels so there’s not a big speed difference.
Keeping your dominant leg forward when carving either way and just shifting weight, and head where you want to go while pushing shoulders forward!! Both key for me and so helpful!!
That skate park looks amazing! Huge!
Favorite tip: really stretching and leading through your arms and with your head. I definitely have been “derby turning.”
What an awesome human being. Thank you so much to share your love with the world. It's contagious

I just got some roller skates for my birthday on Monday, and I’ve been trying to learn all around my neighborhood! I’ve been learning some new tricks with your help! Thank you Indy!!
I’ve been waiting FOREVER for your version of how to carve. I love you!! Thanks so much, Indie!! ✨🤗👏
Hadn't rollerskated since 1986 and just started back Christmas trying to teach my kids how and I've learned so much from just a couple of your videos. Thanks you for making these tutorials you are great! Hope 1 day I can do everything you can and more!
She makes it look so easy 😫
Yes! I've been waiting for this one! I haven't even been to the skate park yet but I'm so excited!!
Yesss I was waiting for this episode to come! It's sooo helpful I will go to the skatepark tomorrow to practise thisss! Thank you so much Indy!
Awesome training video! Thanks!
Thanks again, Indy, for another great tutorial. I have been having trouble with carving but I feel like you've given me a head start for the next time I go. While there was so much helpful information in your video, I think the light bulb moment for me was when you said, "Push the concrete away (pump) or let your skates come up to you (absorb)". I had always had trouble doing good pumps (mainly the backwards to forwards pump) because it all looks the same to me! But I think I've got it now. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
Thank you, Indy! I don't have roller skates (YET) but I am inspired by your videos and other skaters' Instagrams.
Can you make a video on how to do different breaks (toe stop breaks, t-stop and any others )

Indy! Because of you and all the other beautiful ladies i bought skates. I first practised inside my house, stopping, falling, turning. Today i went outside for the first time, into nature. I had so much fun, feels like freedom and happiness. I am a total beginner so just cruise around, when i keep skating i will buy moxi some day. Thank you Indy, i have been binging all the episodes. You are such a gem!
YESSS NEW EPISODE Your vids have helped me so much and are still helping me!! Keep up the amaxing work Indy! Love ya ❤❤❤
Your tutorials are incredibly good and helpful!!! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
You are awesome!!
This helps so much, thank you!! On another video could you have each Moxi skate member explain why they got into skating, how long they’ve been skating and how they ended up with Moxi?! I know it would be long but it could be a “special edition” episode? I’m really hoping you can do something similar because I’m very interested in everyone’s story! Thank you for these episodes and the effort and energy you put in them💕 hope to thank you in person one day!
Thanks Indy this was super helpful, been keeping my shoulders too far back and i kinda feel top heavy so to speak.... Can you please do an ep on "getting up on toe stop's and running into rolling"
This video is perfect! Thanks Indy :)
your tutorials are so good!! you explain things really well!
I'm so happy that I found your channel I have learned how to skate from you! And my next pair of skates will defiantly be moxi lollies! Thank you so much for putting in all these efforts for us!!!
Yeah ! Thanks for this vidéo 🤘😁... I look forward to trying carve in the right way 😊
I loved this one! I really need to practice carving, i found really helpful when you talked about de legs and arms positions, I need to lower my body and have more control of my position and look where I am going! xD Thank you!
Really cool! When I feel confident enough to skate on parks I will try this
Please make more videos with pigeon and estro
I come from derby too and I think the ‘derby leg’ is my issue with learning to carve. This is super helpful, thank you!

I totally LOVED the whole thing. I think what I found most helpful was the idea of using your arms to really move or lean into the carve. I also liked that you pointed out that derby leg thing because I’m pretty sure I’m doing it at least some of the time.

You make bowl skating look so easy!
Aww, that vid was really helpful. I'm just starting to get into skate parks and I thought I won't be able to carve to the right because of my dominant left leg from derby but this vid really helps and I can't wait to try your tips out soon! ^_^
Awesome video! Thanks for all the tips. Could you do a video about the different skate setups you've used (i.e.: boots, wheels, plates, toe stops, etc.)? In your various videos you mention different items in passing (Red Radar Energy wheels, Chaya short-stem toe stops) and I'm wondering if you'd be able to do a vid basically just talking about all the different setups you use. Lately I've found myself re-watching your old videos to try and get a good look at what you're skating on, haha! Keep up the good work.
Awesome!
This is what I need to practice.. I always seem to lose speed

Once again another great tutorial! Did I hear correctly through the grapevine that you might be coming to Dubai? That would be amazing! I've said it before but you are such a good coach/teacher. My favorite tip was to aim for the top/coping near the middle of each straight section. Keep up the great vids!
That intro got me so pumped lmao xD
wow ive never played derby but this is exactly the reason i cant figure out carving, thank you!!!! cant wait not to feel that jerking.
I love all your tutorials! What wheels do you think are best for skateparks?
She’s the Indiana Jones of roller skating
I wish I could skate with you. Your videos are great
Your awesome very inspiring
Hey I love you're videos sm they are always helpful! I noticed you mentioned about the 180 turns on a ramp but never really got into it. Could you maybe do a video about doing 180s on the ramp? I've been working on them in the bowl but they're kinda scary lol :) tysm for all your help and for getting me I to rollerskating! Its literally changed my life 💖
You are amazing
I was there yesterday!
Used your video and went from never carving to going about half way up a small bowl in one day! Thanks!
I tried it on little tiny raps at base skate!
Got my first moxi lollys! Best tip was abt how you lead with your left. I lead with my right and can only carve to the left because I thought I had to lead with my right the other way
the bowls at my park are really steep what do i do
Next,Can you make a video on going over spines? Also love how you taught how to absorb your crave 💖

Draw a rainbow! Use your imagination xD Thank you for all the great videos and the inspiration. I actually startet skating because of you and all the other skaters on KZread.
Can you do more dancing on rollerskates? I am amazed by you guys💙💙💙💙
I will never attempt anything like this bc I will die, I'm just here to watch you skate and enjoying every second. 🍿
Im too scared😭😭😭😭😭 Amazing video💙💙
Can you please do a video about the transition from going forward and then quickly switching and going backwards? Been having trouble with it lately
Everything was helpful
Can you do a tutorial just on stopping i'm used to inlines, which have breaks on the back. And going forward and using toestop just makes me fall alot. So maybe how we can get to the point where i have that balance or easier ways to stop.

Most likely, you're pushing too hard (which can also lead to strained, sprained, twisted, or broken ankles)...she does have a "How to stop fast" video that might help, along with "How to turn on roller skates" which I'd actually suggest watching first. Toe stops on roller skates are safer if you're going backwards. That said, they do have a "back break" you can put on roller skates until you're more used to them...but it can sometimes make it harder to learn how to stop properly on quads because you get too dependent on it.
Hello im from Mexico and I love your videos
Hey Indy! Such a helpful tutorial. When you skate a fish bowl shaped bowl is the technique the same? Like, do you still aim for 3 high points as if there's straightaways? Thanks 💜
Just wanted to say your videos have inspired me to get into skating! Is it okay to use the same roller skates for indoor skating and outdoor skating or no?
Still waiting for that candi girl roller skate review!!!
What protective pads do you use?
Omg I have skating for a couple weeks now and I can do 360's. You helped me so much! I have a ledge at my park that I ride on. In my area there aren't any large skateparks.I just ordered Moxi beach bunnies and i cannot wait for them to get here. Also can you do a video of good helmets to wear. Thanks a lot! C:
My brother has a stunt scooter and he wanted to learn some tricks, so we went to unit 23 skate park in Glasgow and I got stuck in this giant pit 😂
How did you get into the bowl ?
Woww!!! Love this tutorial! Where is this park? Grettings from Argentina
I hope Indy can go back to CA 🥺🥺
how do you keep your feet together?
Please a drop in tutorial ❤❤❤❤
Hey, I have trouble keeping my feet together when carving, do you have any tips?
Will there be a 180 turn tutorial?
Im doing the derby leg and i cant stop help
❤ this video helps me so much. I have tried to see if you have done a turn video on ramp but cannot find it. Could you please 🥺 help???
What if you have a power blade skate??
When I first learned how to pump I neglected pushing up at the base of the ramp and only pushing to force myself down, and I think that’ll also apply to carving 🤦🏽♀️😂
