I have this exact tree and yeah, it’s doing the same thing where there is a bunch of branch growth at a slight upward angle away from the center. This adds much clarification to this tree that’s been in the ground for 2 years now.

What happens if you prune in the spring?

I prune in the fall, as soon as the fruit is harvested. Apples, pears, plums, peaches.Less likelihood of disease and absolutely no water sprouts. Mid Atlantic.

Why no one talks about fruit bearing spurs and vegetative spurs, heading, thinning, and other cuts?

Can plums be grown espalier?

I'm in a similar situation I just planted mine so am planning to give it a year to settle in and do what it needs to, next year I'll start working with it. I think a less demanding first year will pay off next year if a lot of growth can go into forming a big healthy rootball 😃

@@ottoflouer1750 no cut it all down to knee high right now less damage done if you do it when its very young..it will be to a vase shape then when it grows out, always keep the middle out of it..

You say 30 degrees and demonstrate 45. And, then say not 45 and demonstrate 90.
