Great Tip ! I've had my Pro for over 15 years. People that own medium to high grade kitchen knives really love my sharpening skills.
Love your videos. I am saving to buy an edge pro. I am a painter by trade, but want to get into sharpening knives. Since you are talking about tape, I figured I could share some knowledge. The difference between painters tape is the adhesion's time of release. As for Frogtape, they are a company, but known for their green and yellow tape varieties. They are now producing blue tape. What stands frog tape aside from 3M and others, they put a coating on the side that reacts with paint to leave a clean line upon removal. Frog's blue tape will have the same polymer that reacts with latex paints. White tape is cheap and cheap paper, has around a 3 day release. Blue tape has better quality paper and a 14 day release. Green and Yellow expand upon that, having better quality paper and better adhesives with very long release time. Yellow has a more gentle adhesive though. Run a tool like a silicone grout spreader over the back of the tape after applying. When the paper darkens in color, showing an even adhesion, the tape will have a better hold on its surface and less susceptible to falling off. All tape used for masking, we press down with a putty knife so it doesn't peel off and come undone. Hope this is of use. Keep up the good work and the enjoyable videos.

I'm learning!
Thorough! Very handy.
Love the recommendations. I'm planning on trying some black electrical tape to see how that works
Finally! A product from my home state. Buying stuff from China's ok, but everyone knows Oregon is the best. Thanks guys!
Thanks for the tips. I am new to sharpening on the edge pro and i need all of the help i can get. Love the results I have gotten so far.

Thanks Kevin, you can always call in and talk to me if you run in to any questions that are not addressed on the channel.
After years of using the painters tape I recently switched to Frog Tape... It really isn't THAT much of a switch, I kinda just wanted a different tape colour, but it works super well.
The problem with tape is that takes letters and symbols away specially in Japanese knifes. I’m using bee wax now and then remove it with a small knife previously dipped in hot water
Blue tape is about three times as expensive as masking tape for the amount of time that you're putting tape on this job masking tape would work just fine or even 3M shipping tape
Hi, I've just bought an Edge Pro Apex 4 and was hoping you could answer a question for me. Is the end of the blade table itself the reference point you used to calculate the angles on the pivot shaft or was it calculated from a point in front of the blade table (and if so, how far in front?). I want to get my bevel as close as I can to a particular known value (20 degrees for example). Basically, I've been practising sharpening by hand on a relatively cheap knife and have strayed from the angle it originally had and would like to fix my clumsy attempts. This will give me a reference for a known angle so I know what to strive for when practising sharpening by hand in future (as I'd still like to learn).
