    For those that don't know, fabric softener is a complete and total waste of money. It creates a way film on the fibers trapping dirt so that you can never get your clothes truly clean. If you want to soften your fabrics use a couple ounces of vinegar, that's it

    I toss the thing in, toss in the pods, use hot water, deep fill, vinegar for fabric softener and odor control, double rinse, and mine comes out awesome.

    My washer does not fill water when the lid is open. It locks closed before water starts. I usually take my comforters to the laundromat and use their huge machines

    Perfect if you don't have an agitator. If you do, skip the folding into a square. Fold exactly as she does until that point and place in your machine, around the agitator.

    Better if you fold comforter accordian style, then fold the oblong into a basic accordian. This way, you aren't concealing the soil inside the burrito!! My machine has a center agitator, so i kind of distribute it gently around that. Plus i always dissolve all detergent and boosters BEFORE adding my clothes, to a low level of water; agitate a few monents, then add blanket. I also rinse twice. Gentle/delicate for down comforter (cos you're not supposed to wash them.😬)

    Remember the good ole days when we had washing machines with agitators? You put the comforter in ( no folding required) and it still came clean. I miss the old machines.

    Just be carefull with so much detergent. It will cake and eat through the components behind the basin and is a very expensive fix. Always use less and double wash instead of so much detergent. Love the fold

    Well it may "look brand spanking new" but it most assuredly is not... Not only are you overworking your non commercial washer with the wet weight of a huge comforter, but there is no physical way for a washer like that to actually "clean" and rinse through an item that large, heavy and crumpled against itself. It will sit & get sloshed around but basically still have the dirty water on it no matter how you slice it. Not only that, but all of those toxic, overly perfumed pods and s==t leave a film on everything. Too many people think some sort of magic happens when you close the door of a washer; it just ain't so. Duvet covers are available for a reason... They cover the comforter so that you don't have to take the comforter to a mildewy commercial laundromat where people throw filthy rugs in them & hoarder clean out clothing, Just get a couple of inexpensive cotton duvet covers and wash those... Washers are not magic and they definitely don't last long when overloaded on a regular basis. Being clean & "looking" clean are two hugely different things.

    Those washers, that have no middle agitator, are meant for you to load clothes in a circular manner leaving the middle empty because the water is supposed to circulate from the middle to the outer parts and if you cover the middle then the water can’t circulate this not cleaning your clothes as good.

  • @annraczok3163
    @annraczok31639 ай бұрын

    Yes, raise the water level, even add a few extra cups. Use liquid detergent combined with a softener thoroughly mixed in with all the water (full), & do not place comforter in washer until water level has completed. This procedure requires stopping & starting machine manually.. then 'plunge' comforter in... 'under' the soapy water all around the agitator foot by foot so "air all gets released" & comforter is completely submerged under water for washing & NOT floating above water level untouched. No, I think your way of folding secures the inner fold of the comforter so that it likely won't get much water flow there & won't get as cleaned. I don't think it should be brought together in thirds folded in upon itself. Instead, it should be brought together in thirds BUT 'accordion' style, otherwise any part folded in upon itself will not get the immediate & even flow/flushing of the soapy water.. I would then take the length & fold it according style as well for placing in a tumble- washer. In a top load agitator (best kind of washing machine), place the comforter according style around the agitator lengthwise. I also suggest an EXTRA rinse cycle (or 2) & an EXTRA spin cycle if necessary. The BEST OPTION... less hard on your washer & upsetting the washer drum balance... & less wear on the comforter... is to get the comforter "professionally" cleaned in one of those giant industrial washers or dry-cleaners. That was always MY BEST WAY. Remember the batting used in some comforters may separate & ball up too. I would never try to stuff a king size comforter into any washer, only a twin size. You made it seem so easy though.

    Washing it in a top loader will push the stuffing into the corners and cause it to clump eventually. It was impossible to tell the condition of it after the wash because it was still stuffed in the machine. This type of bedding, including pillows, should be washed in a front loader.
