I normally bend over, get in most awkward position I can manage to get into and lift it up on my work bench. Shoot, most of the time I only pull a muscle or two.

I've always oiled the foam air filters. Works great. Carburetor stays clean and runs great.

Back in the late 70s I took a broken down Toro we had in the garage to my shop class as a project, it was required as part of the class. It turns out it needed a new camshaft, it was broken right in the middle. I never did figure out how that happened. That was my favorite class by far.

no mess method, put the filter in a plastic baggie, use little oil, squeeze until its all worked thru

I have never oiled a filter like that, had no clue you could even do that. I would normally just grab some kind of spray lubricant and give it a shot or two. Will be doing that from now on.

I still use one... 4HP Lawn Boy gold series. Although I threw a rod last summer (pushed it too hard??? Oil was mixed!) and had to find another. And did. Lots of power and easy on gas.

I clean foam filter exactly as you do except my last step is to use a couple of paper towels and squish to really remove excess. Any problem with that? Thanks, always great videos! Keep them coming!

I wash those foam filters with petrol. ;) My $5 Victa lasted 45 years mowing a 1 acre property. :P (oh, and we used to just use normal engine oil for the 25/1 fuel mixture). I really enjoyed you video, but I won't be using that 'purple' stuff! LOL Cheers! Mick

No, no you shouldn’t. Solvents change the composition of the foam, Have you ever taken a foam filter out that just literally crumbled in your hand? Yeah I bet you have and those are the ones that were washed in solvents.

@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 So a air filter that is design to work with an engine that burns gasoline should be in contact with gasoline or it will change its composition?!? Where did you get that from? The only filters that I've seen that crubbles are very old and have never been oiled.
