How to properly pack a 78 vinyl record and story time
This is the best way I have found to pack a 78 rpm vinyl record. Where others use pizza boxes and tissue paper, I use proper packing materials, lots of them, and pay close attention and care to make sure that the record arrives at its destination safely, and in one piece.

Great instruction! And remember, bubble wrap is the lowly man's dream. (huh?)
Hi, I have have sold many thousands of 78's using a similar packing method for a single record over the past 20 years - the only thing I don't do is double box but i do use 4 criss crossed boards double bubble wrapped put in a 12 x 12x 4 filling with peanuts This has worked very successful for me.
Great video!
He's a nutcase but I like him, love the stories and that's exactly how I'm going to post my 78s when I finally get round to selling them cheers.
Great to see this video . The time spent explaining the packing of 78s correctly , then the dealer agrees to and claims to have paid attention. Days later a pizza type box arrives or worse with that very rare 78 you've been searching the world for and arrives in pieces ....... .... .

Sad sad sad...
In the past two weeks, three 78's arrived broken. I might send this along to some of those sellers. I'm a harmony man...arranged, recorded and performed the music over the years - collected since 1959 - sold over and over a again but I'm at it again. I follow harmony most intently and appreciate the training many of our favorite artists received on their way to .....sometimes only our shelves. I really appreciate your vid and the time you took to put it out.

I had pretty good luck over the past few years with 78s. My last broken one came in 2015 or 2016, though I did have close calls in 2019 with sellers from Alabama, Ohio, and Michigan.
Now that’s how it’s done!
Serrat Sandwich, with peanuts. Tasty.....
i once bought a 78 from Poland. It was a Belgium pressing of Day-O/Star-O from Harry Belafonte. I live in Germany so it wasn't that long of a way but it arrived broken because he just putted it in a bubble wrap envelope with 2 pieces of cardboard...
I just listened on KZread too that's a beautiful record .

Thank you kindly
it's a very good way but not perfect. sadly the tape sticks to the sleeve sometimes which is not so good if its the original sleeve.
I Just listened to this on You Tube Great song
Check out the R Crumb video about this...really good.
My wife and I found a Sun 78 of Elvis mystery train in an old victrola that a friend gave us.

Use Vat exclusion #9705000090: Historical interest for collector. Item over 60 years old. Hobby gift.
Nicely done! I get accused of 'over-packaging' records, especially when they are going abroad - I have been called 'The Gaffa Tape Commando' in feedback due to the amount I use! There's one other thing I do - the record may shuffle about in between the cardboard as various delivery people boot it around the planet and it - or the edge of the sleeve - could get stuck on the tape, so when I pack 'em I always put the record in a polythene sleeve first. They can be pricey if you are only buying a few, but wrapping it in cling film (I think y'all call it Saran wrap, if you don't know what cling film is!) or even newspaper would do at a pinch, just a little protection for the sleeve!

@@IBuyOldRecords Take a look at my listings - old records only, of course! - I may have something you want! www.discogs.com/seller/SAV.Paignton/profile?format_desc=7%22&year1=1950&year2=1969
I would definitely pack a rare record like that...however, if you sell a shellac record for 10$, shipping included, you cannot afford to pack it like that due to material and shipping costs, and if you tried to sell it for 15$, no one would buy it...so what is the alternative??

I actually dumpster dive and cut my own filler pads, use the free walmart bags, and the box costs about 75 cents, so I have little invested. I usually sell for a minimum of $10 to $15, then shipping added.

In my ~15 years of collecting, I only mailed out 78s four times, but I usually save packing materials and boxes from the 25-50 or so 78s I have been acquiring each month, so I have packing materials waiting in the wings assuming that I have to ship someone a 78.
Did this record arrive safe and sound?

It did!
Why do you call these records ‘vinyl’ when they clearly are not ?? Otherwise , they wouldn’t be as fragile .
