How to properly install a current generation Rockshox Reverb Stealth seatpost

Спорт

I’m a professional bike mechanic and I want to help you install your seatpost. Let me know in the comments if you’d like me to make more bike maintenance videos. Thanks!

    Great video! It helped a lot. Routing the cable through the frame was tough because it doesn’t have a channel through the frame. I had to grab a wire clothing hanger and make a hook to fish it out. It was bit dark and the flashlight only worked so much. But it took me 5 mins to fish it out of the frame. The rest is history. Thank you sir for the tutorial. It helped me a lot!

    Thank you! I’m glad it is helping people. The shop where I made that video is gone now so it’s cool to see my old work space whenever I watch this!

    @@ark6959 Just one question, how much hydraulic fluid do I need to pump into the drop post when I bleed it? Just enough til the bubbles (air) are gone from the system?

  • @ark6959

    @ark6959

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Mtb-TrailTime Yes, once the air bubbles are all gone, the system will only allow so much oil in and the rest will come out when you remove the bleed tool.

    Hello mate. I've been wondering how to take the ends off my "only used for one ride" new secondhand dropper seat post tube all afternoon. Not only have you got the music volume in your video bang on, your information has been mega helpful for me too. Thank you very much for posting 🤙👌👍

    Nice video, thank you! One question I have is about carbon grease. It appears you put the post in dry, is this correct and if so do you have an issue with carbon grease?

  • @ark6959

    @ark6959

    Ай бұрын

    Thank you! Yes I did install that post with no carbon grease. When I worked for that company, we would build and test ride the bike before disassembling it and shipping it out. Since we did not know the exact seat height that the end user was going to have, we did not want to risk scuffing the post. All it takes is one angry customer who demands a “fresh” post because his new post was scuffed up for a new procedure to be implemented, haha! Personally, I use regular grease unless there are slipping issues with the frame/post interface, then I go for the carbon paste. Great job noticing that little detail!

    Sounds like there is air in the system and the hydraulic line needs a full bleed. Good luck!

    Currently bought a used reverb stealth C1 and the hose was too short. Just wanted to ask if the threaded barb fitting is reusable or do you need a new one?

  • @ark6959

    @ark6959

    3 ай бұрын

    Totally reusable! Just make sure that there is a nice clean cut on the hose when you fit it to your bike and make sure to tighten that barb with a torx t-10. Thanks for checking out the video👍🏻

    I'm 167cm (5'6) and my gravel bike geometry gives me only 11cm exposed seatpost. Can I install a 50mm or maybe 75mm on my bike? I wonder how long it's needed for the other bits taking up space.

    Sounds like you need to make sure those torx t-10 threaded barbs on the hydro line are fully tightened and then re-bleed the line just like I do in the video. Good luck!

    Yeah. Like I said, it was a poorly staged video. Definitely needed a tripod and a camera instead of an iPad propped up on a chair. If I do more videos like this, I will definitely do a better set up.
