I have bought some gold covered pins on EBay. Hopefully they will be ok for my first attempt.
@sreetips
6 жыл бұрын
Gold covered pins are gold plated. There is a very thin coating of gold over a base metal. Usually brass or copper, but sometimes steel. Steel will not dissolve very well in nitric acid. Use a magnet to see if you have steel or brass as base metal. In any case, the amount of gold will be very small. And you must use a sulfuric acid stripping cell to deplate the gold. It would be a hard first-time experiment to pull off. I've done milspec pins by dissolving the base metal (nonmagnetic brass) with hot dilute nitric acid, then dissolving the resulting gold foils in aqua regia, but it took a long time and used much acid. Good luck with your refining experiments.
@markcook999
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info!! Much appreciated! I think maybe I should have acquired some karat gold for my first experiment 🙄
@michael32636 жыл бұрын
Interesting approach. You can reclaim some of that nitric acid by bubbling the nitrogen dioxide through water and then distilling to concentrate it. It won't get all of it but that would allow you to recycle some of your nitric acid.

Thanks for the info!! Much appreciated! I think maybe I should have acquired some karat gold for my first experiment 🙄
Interesting approach. You can reclaim some of that nitric acid by bubbling the nitrogen dioxide through water and then distilling to concentrate it. It won't get all of it but that would allow you to recycle some of your nitric acid.

Or just use some gold that has already been refined. I use that to eat up the left over nitric
Great work!
Parabéns, muito bom. Estou aprendendo aos poucos, pena que não entendo seu idioma.
Another great vid! Ty!
Man that's a tight demo. Yeah you got it all figured out man haha very nice
You are freakin awesome dude !!!
Thanks for the tip
Perfect screetips im following it for sure
Impressive! Thanks
Many many thanks
Thank you.... Sir.... It was so informative
I wouldn't try to do this kind of thing myself. This IS a great experinent! I like that you look at all the methods and all the data and compare results. More than that, you don't treat anything as trivial. All the information you gather has value. That said, are there other methods that you will test and compare in future vids? Maybe one I missed? I saw a vid where you used a method involving chlorine bleach.
Excellent
Good Tip Good on you. Saving Time ,Is Way Cool
Awesome job thank you Thumb up
great vid bro , thanks
Your awesome bro I do the paranna or the Blanco but if it's very good gold I hit it with aqua but yeah you got it add it lil by lil is the best way
It was a lot helpful. Thanks
Sodium hydroxide before you do smb. It will neutralize the acids. Then you won't have a violent reaction when you add the smb.
Amazing learning!

Incremental nitric dosing, one of the most valuable refining techniques that I've ever learned.
Great video!
Parabéns. E obrigado.

Hey Sreetips. You really are great at what you do. I am wondering if your exhaust flows through a filter, or if it just blows high above the house and neutralizes in the air? Please let me know. Thanks for the videos!
I think a very good way to dissolve gold is by adding nitric acid in small portions. Saving nitric acid. Считаю очень хороший способ растворения золота прибавляя азотную кислоту небошими порциями. Экономия азотной кислоты.
Thank you sir....!!!
Thank You very much for these cool videos. I have learned several tips and tricks from you. I can't wait for your stock pot video. Also can you make a video when you do all your saved filters? Thanks!

Scott, I did one on my silver filters, it's on my channel. But I've never done the gold filters yet. I got a 5gal bucket almost full, as you seen in the video. I'll come up with a plan and try to get a video done of those.
Good job bro...
Rewriting parts of Hokes book...and for the better..2 thumbs way up!
Cool stuff!
I learned to use a fraction of those formulas of AREGIA.
@ 32:03 was as a switch was flipped. Amazing
What a great representation of how you can easily waste nitric acid.
I'm always watching your videos, they seem to be the most informative of all! Just one simple question, where is it that you buy your lab equipment?

I tried the pemix way before I seen your video. After melting the stuff I got out of the mix, I ended up with what looks like copper but weighs more than same sized peice of copper.. also has a lighter copper tone that copper...I have a 1 pound chunk of industrial electrical metal that is 5 to 8 k gold.. I think the other metals are copper, silver..
Thanks
Your video is very useful. Could you please indicate the economics of this business; in short what is the gold recovery over your total expenses. Thanks
