How To Properly Decontaminate A Vehicle With Clay

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Dirt, road grime, paint overspray, iron fallout, and other bonded contaminants on your paint can make your paint feel bumpy, sound like sandpaper when your hand runs over it, and like like little specks stuck onto the surface. Decontaminating your paint with a clay bar or clay mitt is the easiest way to make the surface of your paint smooth again, and Adam will show you how.

    as a detailer two big questions come to my mind … 1. how often do you recommend rinsing (or dunk in rinse bucket) off your clay mitt when you are removing contamination with the detail spray method and soap method? 2. some clay mitts (and synthetic pads,sponges,discs) will introduce marring into the clearcoat that looks like "ice frost" when performed in colder outside temperatures…(below 55/60f) Do you have the same experience with your clay mitt? Great video thank you very much! Joel's Auto Detailing Sandusky Ohio

  • @RothBeyondTheGrave

    You don't have to dry before using the clay mitt, but the car should be washed first. While still wet, you can apply more car shampoo/soap & use that as lube for the mitt. You could also re foam the whole car like Adam did in this vid.

  • @AdamsPolishes

    @AdamsPolishes

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Pepe, not necessarily. The clay mitt isn't super aggressive, so as long as you use light pressure and rinse it out often, you should not see too much marring or light scuffs from it on a white or light-colored car. Machine or hand polishing is mainly to remove swirl marks and bring out more gloss and depth in the finish. After you clay, you could go straight to Surface Prep and then Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating, but keep in mind that any scratches or swirl marks will still be there afterward if you do not polish,

  • @AdamsPolishes

    Hi there, the red woven fabric side should not be used on paint - it may not be delicate enough for some paint surfaces. That side is used to lay the mitt back into the packaging, or onto a work bench, detail cart, etc, without it sticking to that surface. You want to try to avoid laying it clay-side-down on any surface.
