Something I’ve done as an editor is ask the author if I can add their Amazon book link to my “books Ive worked on” portfolio list. If they say yes, this list goes out each time I’m asked what kind of books I edit. I’m hoping this spreads awareness for the authors too!!

I've done well via calling radio stations and newspapers. I've self published about 50 something books. Also doing the right SEO on my books means that some of my books where I didn't have a launch still sell well over 5 years after uploading them onto Amazon. I write both fiction and non-fiction books. Giving talks all the time also helps. I run 2 social groups so I have several huge email databases to use at anyone time. Also book series or book sets also do well. Get someone addicted to your first book in a series, then its easy to sell them on buying all the rest. Curiosity drives readers around the bend so I aim for that in my series approach. from David Newton in Sydney Australia.

Thank you Julie for all the great information you share! I truly believe in writing nonfiction books to help others this is my passion and I hope others do the same. What I do with my Authors is go Facebook live to launch both the e-book and when the paperback is ready we do it again keeping things top of mind multi-use content works, speaking everywhere, all of those things that you’ve mentioned work really well for me and also my authors! Thanks again for all you do I am thankful for you! ❤️

I seem to be stuck in a circular task where I need to drive traffic to my website so that people can sign up for the newsletter, but in order to get the traffic I need something worthwhile for people to engage with. I do have posts on social media they referred back to the website and directly to the books, but I also need to get traffic to my social media post, and also need to get traffic to my author's page on Amazon. I know that if I have eyes on one platform that it increases the chances of people following on other platforms, but trying to get the ball rolling is not something I figured out yet

I always encourage people to start with a simple landing page (www.booklaunchers.com/7steps as an example) and share something of value. Get traffic as you do other things like write for other people's newsletters, blogs or publications. Get on podcasts. Do author swaps ... hope that helps!

Appreciate the tips -- very helpful. Curious, however: I'm self-publishing my first book of essays with a common theme of travel, nostalgia, and the "great American road trip." Planning a launch in the next several weeks, but was curious how to interest chain and/or independent bookstores in book readings / appearances and whether they're worth it.

What's the best steps to take to get interviewed? I have one person I'd love to interview me. I wrote about them in my book, but not for the gain of their followers. I did it because their podcasts have helped me. I would love to tell them about my book but don't know if it's rude for a nobody like me to even ask for an interview

Yes - other strategies would be a good place to start then! I'd recommend a 99 cent e-book sale or a focus on getting book reviews to start.

Do you have any advice for fiction books? I like your videos but I realized your site works with non-fiction , I don't have any of those yet.

I have not written any fiction and my company only works with non-fiction. There are some great channels on here for fiction though - check out Mandy Lynn and Joanna Penn.

good video but almost everything on your list are things only someone established can do. post a blog on your established blog, use your established newsletter to swap newsletters.. I mean its all good information but I didnt walk away with any action plans it all sounds good on paper but is clearly targeted at ALREADY SUCCESSFUL authors... so yeah mostly a waste of time. WHERE can we get podcasts, WHERE Can we find other authors, WHERE Can we do all this or how? nope just do it.. as if you already had an email list and a blog.. doesnt really help, we have started them and they have 0 readers, we have started email lists and they have 0 email members. see what the problem is and how this video is really a list of duhs for people that have already done these things and youre reminding them to use them?
