Man, I love AlfaOBD. Comes in so handy with my Mopars. I wish someone would come up with something similar for newer GM vehicles.

I'm so happy that yours worked. Bought a pair off of marketplace spend $75 for a locksmith try to program it for my son's 06 coming to find out the board inside was fried on both of them so just buy or beware and I'm out about 125 bucks.

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this video. I was able to successfully program 2 new keyfobs from Amazon for my 3500. My local Ace Hardware wanted $281 for ONE of them, and I shudder to think what the Stealership would have charged. I didn't even spend $100 on both, and that included going to home depot to get the metal keys cut. Thanks again!

Did it allow you to start the vehicle also? The buttons use a different transmitter than the keyless ignition in the fob. He never started the vehicle

FYI on some older cars alfaobd cannot read the pin. But, you can go to the dealer parts dept and they can look up your pin for you. Depending on the laws of your state they might have to make a photo copy of your registration and license and/or title (proof of ownership) to keep on file before giving you your pin, but that's easy. Once you have your pin everything else he showed is the same.

Can you switch from key ignition to a push to start button on the single cab?

Great walk through. Only problem I had was the alarm went off when I opened the door. Horn honking, blasting away. Lol Finally got it to stop by hitting the unlock button.

Thanks I bought one of eBay for $20 the only difference was the ram logo was missing off the back of the fob, so I swapped boards with the OEM that was no longer working so the new board was inside the old plastic housing. Programming worked just like your video said it would. The only thing is you skipped through the radio hub kind of fast had to look at another video.

Can I use the OBDLink LX to program my 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad with AlphaOBD.

My 2014 Laramie has the FOB with the air suspension button. Does that feature have to be programmed as well?

I found the uncompleted process but the new key is working correctly even the remote star if it has still been programmed, will it be okay to leave it like this or will there be a problem?

Just wondering can you program 2 car key controller at the same time?

This method works with Jeep Cherokee kl 2015? I read the pin from the RFH which has 5 digits. I entered it but suddenly it shows that the pin is 4 digits. alfaobd may not work with cheroekke? Apparently appcar from Windows does it better. Please help.

What year truck was this ?

I purchased two key fobs and OBDLink MX+ for my ‘14 Ram 1500. What I did not do is remember/pay attention to 1) that DL is only for android or pc. (I have MacBook and iPhone) I do have an old Dell laptop. 2)either I got the link to download and didn’t or I just didn’t do it. I’m not good with any of this. Is there a way I can get the free download? I have proof of purchase through Amazon. I did read, today, that DL was only good for so long immediately after purchase. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Any help is appreciated. It's possible the feature got turned off. Did you look in your settings on the radio to make sure it was still on?

For my 2013 Ram 3500 it required me to turn the ignition of (locked) before I could get the programming to start.

For some reason, Alfaobd keeps providing a false PIN # had to pull out the Xtool D9 pro to get the correct one.

They sell them separately. I tried to install the app on my PC after buying it on my phone and it wouldn't let me use it with a license which you buy separately from the android version. I think they offer a discount if you buy it for both.

I'm assuming each fob has to be done independently of each other? So when the 2nd NEW fob is being programmed a NEW pin is given to link it????

Your pin is like the SS number for your truck kind of. The pin stays the same unless you have a 2019+ model ram at which they switched to rolling codes and we can no longer program keys on our own.

Odd my pin gives me a 4 digit code but when i go to program it . Than it asks for a 5 digit pin any idea y. Also do u have passive entry when u touch handles it locks and unlocks ur doors and did that still work for you?

Your truck is probably newer that 2018 I would guess

Tried this method on my 2014 Jeep Cherokee and unfortunately for my case, it thinks my key is the physical key even when selecting the high line system. Gives me “Please ensure un-programmed FOBIK is in the ignition, and ignition lock is in LOCK state.”

I know this is an older video so i may not get a reply but I'll try anyways... Might be a dumb question however, if my original fob HAS the remote start and i program a new fob also with the RS, do i need to program the RS feature or will it automatically do that when i program the fob?

The RS should work just like your original key after programming. No additional steps

I get to the message for the unlocking and I okie the message away but it the says “procedure results:key programming procedure failed,reason unknown” I don’t know what I’m doing wrong I drive a 2015 Jeep Cherokee push to start I also get the message say the message about the ignition needs to be in lock state when I try to do this in accessory any one else run in to this situation

So it worked for me but i went too the store and noticed that it wouldn’t lock so it must have unpaired some how? So what do I do about re pairing it

Unfortunately you can't repair it and you'll most likely need a new key. My cheap eBay key did the same thing. It's just the risk you take I guess

I wonder. Has anyone tried this method with the Vlink MC+ instead of the Obdlink MX+ ? I know AlfaOBD website says the Vlink MC+ works with Alfaobd in general. But it doesn't say if the key fob programming feature superficially, will work with Vlink MC+. I mean it also doesn't specifically say the Obdlink MX+ works with the key feature either. If anyone has done this with the Vlink MC, I'd appreciate it if you could confirm it works. Thanks

I got all the way to read pin and it just kept saying interface error, told me a couple of things to try in preferences and still would not work. So 139. for obdmx+ and 50. for alfaobd app. Out 200 bucks. Epic fail.

Trying to do this on a Challenger, i pull the pin (4 digit) but when I go to type it in to program new Fobik it asks for a 5 digit pin

Tried this and it failed. I have 2020 Ram 2500 and was trying to "READ PIN" in "Alfa OBD app" for Key Fob programing. It did not work, app said that "my truck has 5 digit rolling pin number" and that option isn't support yet. Any FIX to that by Alfa OBD and OBDLink MX?

I believe in 2019 Ram started using rolling codes for the key fobs and we can no longer program them ourselves. Security/more easy money for the dealership.

Is there a way to program the fob without the vehicle being on if you lost the other key?

Any idea what it cost to have a new fob made? $500 for the computer to make one key is a bit much for me. I bought a used charger and it only came with one key. The dealer won’t make a second and says they charge too much he doesn’t recommend it. I didn’t think of it before I put the down payment on it.

Help please...I did this exact procedure 4 times with 3 e-bay new keys like the one in your video and 1 OEM key..ALL programed fine like your in the video....UNTIL i drove the truck and shut it off...First time i thought it was ok and drove the dog to the park,shut off the truck and it wouldnt lock,I tried to start it and nothing.I had to call the wife to bring me my old keyfob..same thing with the next and then i bought a obdlink instead of the VeePeak i was using and same thin happened....the last time i got a reman oem fobik and everything seemed fine started it in the drive and shut it off 5 times,then drove it around the block,pulled in the drive and shut it off and same thing the fobik went dead..wont even start the truck if you push the button with it. And when you try and program it again AlfaOBD says "Failure:Fobik already learned"...i'm using a OBDLink MX and AlphaOBD ..and thoughts or suggestions.

Have you figured out why your fobs die after the first ignition cycle or trip around the block? My truck is doing the exact same thing.

So I left a message that I couldn’t program a 2014 jeep Cherokee latitude and guess what it’s different than a ram and I am gonna make a video of it and get some views I searched for days and nothing and I figured it out with my pea brain couldn’t believe it. I LOVE APLPHA OBD!!!!!!

I followed this and the fob works, car starts but the keyless entry (door unlocks when I touch the handle) does not work, I have to push the button on the fob to lock/unlock the car. Not sure I I choose the wrong highline system in AlfaODB??

@@travisketcheson I talked to the supplier of the key and it is not supported, their version of keyless entry does not include what is considered Keyless entry by the rest of us. I guess you have to get a dealer key and not a cheapo ebay key like I bought

@@scottcpan68 yes and yes. I contacted the ebay seller of the FOB who claimed keyless go was supported but his definition of keyless go is not the same as Dodge's.......keyless go to seller means push button start.... so that is the problem, you need the OEM key fob for that to work

How can I do this if I lost my original key? Like how does a locksmith turn on my car to program a key without the original? I was dumb and never programed my extra one and now I of course lost my keys.

You can't because they now use rolling codes instead of the 4 digit set code that the 4th gens use

No. Any basic OBD dongle will work. The MX+ does allow access to other systems though, such as ABS module, etc... that the cheaper ones may not.

I think this is common with the 2013 rams (not sure what year you have) when using the cheaper keys. I just had the same problem and ordered an expensive Mopar official fob with a replacement warranty.

Unless you pay for the full version of AlfaOBD it won't work. It's $49.95 to retrieve the PIN. My local locksmith programmed my $29.95 fob from ebay for my 2016 RAM 1500 and cut the key for $60.00. That's the safer route IMO.

Yes but AlfaOBD is great to have. You only have to pay for it once and it can be used on multiple vehicles. You can do a lot more than just program keys with it.

Just tried it, looks like it does not work for 5th Gen RAM. Bummer

@@brim8499 yeah, apparently the 5th Gen has a rolling code. Needs to be done by the dealer. It's an anti theft thing. I have looked and not found a work around yet.
