How to Program Drums in Studio One

When it comes to producing music at home, drums are probably the most difficult to record. Mainly because you need a lot of microphones to record properly, a good drum set and either know a really good drummer or be one yourself. So if you don't have any of those, what do you do? In this video, I wanna show you how to program your own drum parts so that you can make great sounding drum tracks without having a lot of microphones or using a real drummer.

I failed my first home recording attempt. I really threw everything at the wall to see if it would stick and figuratively put my head through the wall. Now im gearing up to try again, researching tips to have a different experience. One thing i read was its better to play to a drum track than a click (i play guitar) theres more feel instead of a monotone droning on and on.

Glad to hear you’re trying again. Yes I think as a guitar player you play much better with drums than a metronome. More realistic feeling

Excellent-that's a great share. Our templates usually have EZ Drummer or such loaded on track 2 for every song. We have just started exploring Impact and are finding this works amazingly well, too. We hadn't thought to use it like this,so we owe you one. Salute!

Hi is Impact XT free with Studio One Professional. I’m unable to get a clear picture from anywhere. Also does it come preloaded with all these sounds. Thanks for the video.

You should be able to use it as it's a plug-in. I would download the free version and give it a try first.

ugh...everyone keeps showing this impact xt thing...how does someone set up a step sequencer for Spitfire Hammers? If I can see this, I may transition from Sonar Cakewalk. In Sonar, there is a step sequencer button in the libraries' GUI that automatically brings up the sequencer and a soon as something is plugged in, it shows up as a midi clip in the tracks view. Simple! If Studio One was this simple, I'd convert today.

Hey! I'm not that familiar with sonar. So I can't comment on that. I like Studio One because everything is in the box. Once you understand it works great.
