For anyone with a 2013 ats- put new fob in slot in center console and the old one in cup holder, then turn hard key 5 times and press start button (nothing will show up on the screen) wait a few seconds and take out new key and press lock/unlock, it should work, then just hold the start button for 15 seconds to exit the pairing mode. And you’re golden

That's the correct procedure for when you have at least 1 working. If you have no working keys you will need to use the procedure shown in the video.

how do you trigger the DIC? My anti-theft takes over and locks the entire car down? I can't even turn the car on using the dead key fob until 10-30 mins has passed.

I have a 2013 ATS and this absolutely worked!!! So thrilled....it saved me approx. $300 in programming and tow fees....thank you SO much!!!!! FYI, my car did not show any messages on the dash, but I went thru the steps just as if the messages had shown like yours did....also, the slot in the console for the fob was parallel with the drivers seat and I put the fob in with the buttons facing the passenger seat....not sure if that matters, but otherwise, I followed the steps to the letter and can now start my car again!!!!!!!

@@heathanking7485dude I ended up taking it to a dealership at that time. I didn’t have a fob that was already programmed. I just got a new fob as a backup a week ago and used this method and it worked to program.

I had an issue where the DIC stayed blank. Simply following the procedure regardless worked perfectly and I was able to get the fob programmed.

Awesome! ... yeah, the car in the video's DIC would only stay illuminated for about 7 seconds after the door was opened or closed, otherwise it was blank.

That is an awesome video. I'm going to buy my wife an extra key for her car since I can do it myself now.

When I place the key into the transmitter the dash comes on when I push the start button but the car won't start. I recently had a time on my pcm and when recieved it back and installed this is the results I'm getting battery was unhooked for 2 weeks so replaced with new battery still same problem. The tuner says the pcm works in their cars when tested. Is my problem the pcm or the key not being program the key fob locks and unlocks the door but won't open the trunk or remote start doesn't work either anymore.

I have a 2014 Cadillac ATS and it’s not really unlocking and locking the doors properly basically it’s not unlocking the doors. Is there a way to reprogram the key that I have so that I don’t have to buy a new one?

Will it work if the alarm has come on? I had pop a lock open the door after I lost my keys.

I lost all key fobs and spare keys and got new ones and the emergency keys recut but my car is locked so my 2015 Cadillac ats is locked will I be able to unlock it and then start the program? Or

I own a 2017 Ats but what’s this video’s purpose for ... if anyone can give me a solid answer ...? I use my to un/lock normally..?

This worked great for our 21 XT6. We had lost the second key and the new second was assigned to the third slot by the dealer. It wouldn't let me program the third key to the second driver memory settings. This process erased both keys and I was able to redo the keys so the third is now the second.

Great video! FYI: The only difference for the 2014 is the buttons on the key fob have to face toward the front of the car in the slot.

I tried and tried and tried. No luck. Not sure what my issue is. It just started after 132k miles trouble free key fob problems.

I added my new remote and this worked perfectly. My old fob did not work any more-a new battery did not help so I ordered a new fob. How do I get the old one off the car so my new fob works to set the seat position, etc?

Try locking the vehicle from the outside with the emergency key and then unlocking it twice (unlock twice without locking in between)

For the CTS Coupe you need to use the key cylinder on the trunk.

I get all the way down to the end after clearing programming and it still won't turn the engine on without putting the fob back in the console. What could be the issue? We put a new battery in also. And do you have to leave the key in the door?

No - you don't need to leave the key in the door. If you are sure you installed the new battery correctly ( not upside down ) then it may just be an issue with the fob itself.

Typically key issues arise when the vehicle is being started rather than turned off - So I wouldn't guess it is key related but can't say for sure

It can but it won't matter either way.

The owners manual does not call for the buttons facing a certain direction on a 2014 so i think you should be good either way. Yes, you can just use the emergency key out of an existing remote.

This procedure will erase all previous remotes once the new remote is programmed. You don't need to open the door but you dash just may be black, I was just doing that in the video so the dash would light up.

My ELR will not show any screen and will not go into programming mode.. or so it seems. I have tried 3 different fobs. Is this a issue that Cadillac can even fix ? I THINK It may have to do with the CUE screen being replaced. As that seems a common issue with some ELR and other Cadillac owners. I am going to get new batteries for the new remotes as maybe dead batteries could be the issue ? Also with Cadillacs that have the CUE screen, is it the dash screen or the CUE that will show the programming commands ?

Some vehicles only show the messages for a few seconds right when the door is opened or closed. I would recommend just going off of the time rather than the screen prompts.

No - these remotes lock to a vehicle once programmed. They need to be unlocked or "flashed" by someone with the correct equipment before they can be used again.

You might try just continuing with the procedure - some vehicles don't illuminate the dash in order to be able to see the messages. That's why I had to keep opening and closing the door in the video

The fob will need to be unlocked by someone with the correct equipment before it can be programmed to another vehicle.

Yes - as long as your original remote had remote start as well. The fob needs to match your vehicles options and it will function just as the original.

I have a 2014 ATS & I Got A OEM 2015-2018 Key Fob & Programmed It No Problem. The Newer Key Fob Has To Be The 315MHZ & The Instructions On What This Guy Is Doing. Is All In The Owners Manual. Supper Simple

I don't know exact pricing but you can find the knockoff brands pretty cheap. The downside is the really cheap items don't tend to last very long.

Thank you, it worked beautifully. The 2014 ATS has its pocket on front of compartment, so you cannot place it facing back, I wasn't sure which way, but i inserted it and worked.

this should work on a 2013 ATS. Some vehicles only show the message for a few moments right when the door is opened or closed.

You need to program all the smart keys you want to work on the vehicle at the same time as the old ones will be erased. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video, repeat steps 4-6 for each smart key, after the first one is programmed.

This was a great video, but what I was looking for was how to program the automatic start for my key fob. I have the ability but it’s not programmed.

The whole key fob programs in at the same time so if your car is set-up for factory remote start and you have the correct key fob - there is no additional programming needed for the remote start button to work

why does it say in my manual that "This service not available in Canada" That should be illegal. I just went out to try this in my garage and the DIC doesn't even light up

I took a flashlight and did find the slot. I is a vertical slot on the front of the consol. Do the buttons face the driver or passenger seat?

This worked for my 2014 Cadillac ATS 2.0. Part from amazon: uxcell Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Car Key Fob Nbg009768t 315mhz for Cadillac Ats 2013-2014 www.amazon.com/dp/B07QRYVTNX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3b6yFbZP107D0 Fob had 4 buttons instead of 3 but still worked. Also, as soon as I turned the key 5 times, “Ready to Learn Remote 3” displayed right away so I put the fob near the charging port (hole towards front of the console). Followed the same steps at the end of the video and it worked. Took less than 10mins all together.

It sounds like you actually ended up using the "add a key" procedure, which is shorter it just requires existing fobs - Glad you got it to work though!

When I changed the battery in my key fob I took too long and the key fob no longer worked. I was only given 1 key fob when I purchased the car. I followed all your steps and it says not key detected. I am able to start the car when putting the key fob in the center console but I have a message that tells theft deterrent system. Please help.

Changing the battery in the key fob should not cause the fob to loose programming, regardless of how long you take. Are you sure you installed the battery correctly? ( not upside down )
