How to Produce Metal Rhythms and Chugs with Virtual Guitars ("Nitro" Tutorial Part 3)
Музыка
Punch up your virtual guitar rhythms and chugs! In part THREE of this song breakdown tutorial, composer & Impact Soundworks owner Andrew Aversa shows the techniques you can use to make your rhythm parts more interesting through the right editing, articulation, and mixing. You can use these techniques for ISW instruments like the Shreddage 3 series but they also apply to any other virtual guitars.

this library made me start playing a real guitar, it just sounds much better but it is a good library
Really appreciate you putting all these tutorials together, you didn’t have to but you did for the benefit of the community.. Thank you dude 🫡🤘

You should add a tempo-synced alternate picking/tremolo articulation. That would be super useful for a realistic metal playing over 190 BPM.
Great video, and great VSTs. I have Jupiter, Rogue, PRS, Hydra, Telos and Archtop, and they are all great. In the end you suggest trying to change guitars to achieve the perfect tone, and while it’s a good idea, the differences on for example the keyswitches and all controls, between them, makes it really hard. You cannot simply switch patch, you have to go through the whole midi and correct for everything. It’s a long a tedious process that makes changing instrument a pain. With shreddage 3.5 it has improved, but it still is a pain. ISW should imho focus on making those VSTs more part of a “family”, rather than separate lone wolves.
This is a really great series of tutorials. More of these kinds of videos please!

More to come :)
It's incredible how Shreddage Jupiter (the lovely Shreddage 2X) is the oldest of Shreddage 2 Series, and for me still sounds better than the others, even Hydra! Well done!

I'm quite fond of it as well, but they're all wonderful in their own right :)

Ha! I actually thought Stratus was the oldest

Yes, yes, I'm not saying the opposite... All your guitars have their own peculiar character, and that's good, because they become complementary to each other, now, JUPITER is definitely the best Well-rounded... @@ImpactSoundworksLLC
Thanks for these
I remember getting the og Sreddage 2 years back and couldn't make it sound like a actual guitar at all so kept using my real one lol These vids are helpful

Glad you enjoyed it!
Just realized you guys existed .. damn cool 🙂
Good!
Great, as usual. Many thanks. I own all isw guitars (except the Rosette Mandolin) and I agree with andreabrunori's comment... love them nevertheless!
These tutorials are so awesome - I now have a decent lead and rhythm preset drafted up as a solid starting point. One thing I'd appreciate personally (but would probably benefit a lot of us!) is a dedicated Abyss tutorial. Just some food for thought!

Good idea - we haven't done much with bass tutorials. I'll put it on the list!

Those chugs on Jupiter sound so good! If I didn't already have Hydra, I'd think about getting it too. ...that being said, if you folks at Impact Soundworks ever plan on putting together a 9-string guitar VST, I'll be first in line to buy.

Funny you should mention it...
Andrew i need a tutorial for ableton. its the primary daw I use and the one I'm most comfortable using. please drop some tutorials for ableton. i would greatly appreciate it.
Good work on this but do you have anything that focuses on the Abyss? I stuggle to get it to sound good on anything fast and always end up dumbing down to to where it's "good enough" to add low end to my sound.
*_Can I try your VST before purchasing? Do you have a trial version?_*
hey i have a question. How do you edit the console presets event for Shreddage 3 Stratus
I just started using this. My mutes are short, and sound really scratchy and shallow. How do I reduce that initial scratch and add depth?
outstanding job but where's the link with full song ? (awesome song ) ^^]

That is the full song unfortunately :D maybe I'll write a 3+ min version sometime!
Great walkthrough! Why don’t you consider making a similar video for a “Silent Hill” inspired track? Maybe with some sounds from Super Audio Cart 2 as well?

That's a great idea for SAC2 👀
do the keyswitches occur at the same time as the notes they affect, or do they have to occur ahead of the notes?
@Parukero

From my own experience the instrument works fine when the keyswitches are activated at the same time, but I've had moments where they didn't register. So, just to be safe, I'd put the keyswitches just a little before the note!
Who is that guy singing? He's awesome.
