    I did like this. Informative, concise, and as always I learned something new or got insight. In this case, Perceptual vs Relative colorimetric.

    It goes deeper than that but at the same time it is as simple as the explanation on the QI interface.

    Thank you for the video Jose. How do you print in Qimage from Lightroom. Is there a way to group printer ICC profiles in Qimage together to save scrolling through every single one.

    QI will show you the closest match on the top and that is dictated by the paper choice you set your driver at. You click like you are going to look at all your profiles but instead click on the magnifying glass. Just like I just showed in this video.

    Thanks Jose, it would be very nice to make also an example for an epson such as 3880 or P600 or 800. Making short videos, less than 15 minutes each is a plus for us to be able to not skip information you wish we learn. Keep the good work, my friend. Luke

    Are you saying you need to see settings for printing on such EPSON printers? It would not really pertain to QIMAGE. And I already have many videos covering Printing on EPSON and CANON and the specific driver setting. Give me more specifics.

    Excellent! Thanks for the work involved in making this video. I know it seems simple, but I always seem to have difficulty with arranging, and printing, multiple different images on a single page. Perhaps you could do a short video on this topic? Many thanks!

    Hi Jose, thank you for this video as I just started using Qimage Ultimate. You said that only Mac allows printing of 16-bit images. How about the Canon PRO-100 XPS driver on the Windows side? Won't that allow 16-bit printing?

  • @alanhuntley55

    @@FiestyFez I'm talking about using the XPS driver in Qimage on Windows. Are you saying that a 16-bit image file will still be cut to 8-bit even in Qimage?

  • @cheo1949

    @cheo1949

    4 жыл бұрын

    Technically yes. BUT QI will simulate 16bit tonal distribution. You will be able to create what a tone would be between say 125 and 126. Only true 16bit would allow you to print a 125.5 tone but QI can simulate that by it's proprietary dot dithering algorithm.

    Jose, if you want to create a profile for photo paper, turn off the printer profile in qimage you say. With my colormonki photo I can only print the patges in the program of i1 studio. How can I print these patges in qimage?

  • @dunnymonster

    @dunnymonster

    I don't believe you can print the colour patches via anything but X rites own software. The color munki and the i studio software work together. Q image would be beneficial if you needed to print colour patches for a 3rd party paper supplier for them to produce a custom profile for you.

    @@dunnymonster thanks dunnymonster for your message, was confused with Jose's explanation. You can only create icc profiles with the software that comes with the device. Or one should have it read by a third party, as you say. It is very clear to me now, thanks.

    My reference was only for those who are printing charts to be mailed to a profile provider like me. If you have a Spectrophotometer like the X-RITE CM and software then the software takes care of the printing for you and all you need to do is make sure the DRIVER is set to NO COLOR MANAGEMENT.

    Jose I have only just started watching your videos and am learnign so much from your wealth of knowledge. I have a question that doesn't relate to todays video but am confused about something. When you did the tests for the Pro 100 PC42SE inks last year you said the results were amazing but you said in the same video you should only sell your prints using OEM. I am a childrens book illustrator and just upgraded all my equipment except for my Canon Pixma Pro 100 which I am still using. I want to start selling my prints online but I know it is not cost effective to use the OEM inks so my question is why would it not be acceptable to use the PC inks if the results are almost as good as OEM? Thanks.

    I watched some more of your past videos and now I know why you stress not using the third party stuff for selling. Its the yellow OEM ink... but what if you start out with the Precision SE inks in pre flushed carts. Would that make a difference?Thanks

  • @cheo1949

    @cheo1949

    4 жыл бұрын

    PC42SE produces amazing results BUT the reason you would not sell prints made with that ink or ANY other 3rd party inks is that Longevity is reduced by about 10x. It;s not just the yellow ink. But all the colors. They will not last like OEM. If you have pre flushed carts then you can immediately load them with PC inks or any other ink.

    @@cheo1949Thanks for taking the time to let me know. I appreciate it. I really enjoy watching your videos. So I guess the only way to sell art prints is to pay the high price of OEM inks (which I don't think would be very profitable ultimately) or shop it out to a POD company? I wish there was another option but, oh well, that's business. :)

    I'm still teetering on purchasing Q image but haven't taken the plunge yet. Lightroom's print module pretty much serves my purposes fully. I am considering utilising the free custom profile service from Fotospeed and Permajet however. Q image would be perfect for producing the colour patch prints I'd need to send them. 😉
