Great instruction, thank you for this. On the matter of this topic: what if I am NOT a member of the team, but I DO need to manage the site. Ideally I should not have access to the documents/info even. How would you set the permissions to achieve this scenario?
@SharePointMaven
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Jeroen, happy to hear you found this helpful. This scenario is not possible. You can't be site editor without being able to access the site. In that case - the only option would be to restrict access to the document library and other assets you should not have access to - but this is too granular and not practical: sharepointmaven.com/6-locations-can-set-security-files-sharepoint-office-365/

You would need to alter site permissions
Thank you for the video Greg. I tried your hint and set access permission to read for home.aspx, which works, but now my "+New" button is gone (which I need for the users to create new content), while on your video it stays. The possibility to add pages through the cog on top still works, however. Using a team site and my test user is a Member. What am I missing?

Users can still edit the navigation bar in the left column. It would also be great to prevent this behavior

Not possible, unless you downgrade them to Contribute level
Hi Thanks for your commitment As you know, we can share documents in the library (sharepoint 2013) with a link. I have two sites (team site 1 and teas site 2). I want to move all document from site1 to site 2. The damage of this action is that the url I shared with people is not going to work anymore. Is there a solution that keeps the url at the moving? thanks in advance Davai
@SharePointMaven
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I am not aware of a solution that would keep the shared URL still working. If sites are located in the same site collection, Doc ID feature might keep URLs intact, but I suggest you test it out first. sharepointmaven.com/how-to-track-documents-in-sharepoint-using-document-id-feature/
What if I have a crowd-sourced document library (250 contributors) and I want everyone to have contribution rights (including rights to update required fields/metadata) but only want “file delete“ rights for the library owner?
@SharePointMaven

For this, you will need to create a custom permission level for contributors: sharepointmaven.com/sharepoint-permission-levels/
