Thank you so much! My first girl just died and I’m going to do something similar to this with her 🥺🖤

Try counter culture diy brand resin in the future. It doesn’t have such a strong smell, especially after curing. Great work

Also in the future after you pour your molds and in between layers etc. typically you would use heat to remove any bubbles which would be that rippling/bubbling and stuff, but you don’t want the mold to melt so you can spray it with 91% alcohol just spray it directly over a light mist of alcohol and it will take any bubbles out for you

Has anyone tried UV resin? I'm curious how they look over time and if it was just as efficient. thank you

try gluing a short length of fishing line to the abdomen and gluing the other end to a toothpick or popsicle stick to keep it held down, the line should be invisible inside the resin and hold it in place!

The real trick here is how to keep their color in the resin as most of the time they go black after being encased.

Happy we watched this video, it was helpful! I was reading on the instructions and it mentions using a PVA mold release. Have you used that and does it help? Our jumping spider died last Saturday and we have her pinned to a small piece of foam core. I guess we will wait another week before we preserve her in resin.

Thank you for the informative video! Question for you on the process. How do you prevent deflation on your spiders with the drying process? one of my precious babies recently passed away and I'm worried that he might shrink. Thank you so much

I think it depends on how big the abdomen is. I know that some people take the organs out with a small insicion and stuff it with cotton but I've never done that or know the exact process

Could you use the silica to dry out the pinned insects?

So if I have a spider do I want to dry her first before the alcohol? Or if I have her pinned already and she’s not dry, should I soak her first?

I only did the alcohol bc most of my buggies were dried out before and I didn't want to risk breaking them while pinning. I did it for moisture. If she's already pinned, proceed w/o alcohol. Good questions. Thanks for asking.

Ok I am trying to preserve a spider thy just passed. Can I go straight to pinning or do I need to dry it first or what would you suggest?

Hi! Thank you for this video! Any suggestions on how to keep a jumper’s abdomen from deflating? Your specimen looks great and did not seem deflated. I have a recently deceased jumper and have not yet put her in isopropyl alcohol. Any tips are appreciated. Also, great work overall. They all look great! Maybe you can lightly sand the edges that did not come out smooth?
