How to present the Samoan ie toga (fine mat)
The Samoan Fine Mat (or Ie Toga) was the original Pacific currency. In Samoa today it is mainly used for special occasions - the finer the mat the better the skill!
Our expert Yvonne Maea-Brown teaches Destiny and Pati how to present and fold the ie toga as part of a Samoan custom known as the si'i alofa - a show of support from one family to another at important events and gatherings.

Very nice ladies.. when I was young we had no choice you had to learn this (way back when) it was often followed up by a slippa upside my head taking away from the honor of being part of the ceremony . Now I like to educate our youth in the manner of what a beautiful display of our Culture, & to take pride in the beautiful work, Time & discipline it took to make. Keep making video like this..keep our culture rich..
