Jumping rope really helps. On my last hike my legs felt like steele pistons. Just charging those hills!
Can confirm: the IT band video is a must watch. I get IT band pain a lot and most of the time a set of hip hinges can take away the pain within 5 minutes. Such an easy fix.

Totally agree. ITB issues were plaguing me most times I did any sort of hike with significant elevation changes. I started following Chase’s routine for addressing ITB issues and have done some big multi-day mountain hikes over the last few months and had zero knee pain. Was smiling all the way to the summit and back! Thanks Chase!
This was so helpful. I’ve been following you as of 2021. I laughed when you said you designed your Elements for your 60 year old mother. I’m 60 and have both my hips replaced. My knees are going too but have started backpacking lol. I’ve started using your follow along videos this winter. Thanks for your help in getting this old body out there!

I'm almost 60 and started backpacking last fall. I've followed alot of your tips and it sure has helped. I have had no foot or hip pain, just a bit of pain in the knee last fall which I worked harder on to strengthen and even out the balance. I have a 9 day hike in a month and have been working hard. I find I can work on simple things such as one leg balancing while doing dishes for example. Ive picked up a treadmill, although not ideal its the best thing I can do in a flat area to help cardio and strengthen my legs. I've found I have kept alot of my fitness from last fall just by pushing myself a bit more. 15 min of prevention a day pre hike is worth trying to repair an injury on trail.
As a 60 year old mother, I appreciate your consideration! I am loving the Elements program and it is making a huge difference! Thank you for your knowledge and experience and thank you for sharing so generously. Peace.
Thanks for all the advice and techniques you share with everyone. Its definitely changed my hikes for the better. Take care and be well.
As always, inspiring and gently kicks me in the bum to do what I need to. Thanks
Hi Chase I have been doing the shared videos from your KZread and using Elements since last year to get ready for my 70 mile hike at the end of May 2021. I have just finished a 22 mile hike over the weekend and I wanted to say that your programs were so spot on. I didn’t have any stiffness and my recovery after the hike was great! I love the upper Back workout programs! They have been so useful! I have been telling my friends about your KZread and I hope that they have become interested in your programs too. Thank you so much!
Super helpful content and references to your other videos - great mind map - thanks!
Your videos are really helpful. Thank you man!!!
So glad I found this video. I’m 60. Looking forward to doing your elements program.
Excellent, especially for those of us missing our cross training opportunities (a lot of sessions are still not running here). It answered a question for me, which was "I am hiking more than ever, so why was that last hike so tough?"
Great video as always, I better start preparing for my next trip a month from now
Excellent video!! I've been working for a while trying to help my body feel better from old injuries , trying to get a better routine , I do anywhere from 20-40 min of yoga 6-7 days a week but definitely feel I need to do more
Thanks to your Mom for raising a Great kid!
Thank you for this and your comittment to healthy hiking!

This video is for you 👊🏼
I watched the whole vid, and I'm an experienced hiker! I like your channel for the reasons you say: at my age (50) I don't find that many repetitive miles translates to being injury-free. I'm looking for ways to reduce pain and increase comfortable daily mileage. You convinced me to work on my knee mobility that I thought was likely permanently limited from an old injury, and it helped a lot (thank you!). The hiker strength moves have helped a lot too...but you're also right that it takes time...start now! I cross-train with biking, paddling, and gym. Good cardio, resting HR in low 40s. I'd like to see a video on what you experience in a 20+ mile day...any walls, anything mental, do you expect a certain amount of pain? My 20+ mile days are pretty darn tough to get through and I'm not optimistic I can change that.

Not only that I like this kind of video, but I do recommend you to do it more often.

Good to hear it man! Lots more to come!
Hey man, i live your videos and just recently watch the once about your Mont Blanc tour. I will go for myself this summer and i am already looking forward to it. My question is, what boots would u prefer. Class C or just normal stiff hiking boots. Thank you and stay healthy.

Stiff hiking boots are fine as long as your crampons fit snugly on them. Its been done in trail runners. The important thing is your knowledge of alpine regions and understanding of your body 🤸🏻♂️
Nice. Do you have any videos that could help with pain in the hip flexor (one-sided)? It seems like it must be a somewhat prevalent issue as I got it early on, and then two of my friends both got it on a hike to Mt Feathertop last weekend. All the exact same thing - pain in the right-hand side hip flexor. I haven't gotten it since the first time, which may be due to doing a lot of crab-walk style exercises and side-lying leg raises. If you don't have any videos, it could be a good video idea as I expect it is easy to prevent, and a lot of people likely get it (similar to IT band issues).

Yeah its generally a strength issue but there is a handy little stretch that I want to show so I've got a hip video coming up that might help
just wanted to throw this out there, living in houston, TX (flat gulf coast) find a parking garage and go up and down for elevation. i have been doing this for hill training on my handbike for years. i hate gyms and the cooped up feeling of working out indoors.
I have been following a lot of your routines and my legs are the strongest they have ever been and they look incredible. Unfortunately, the rest of my body hasn't changed much. I'm becoming the opposite of the gym rats that only do upper body and skip leg day. I used to be one of those gym rats and I think that is part of my issue. I am trying to drastically change my build and my muscle memory is all messed up. What video or program do you recommend for that?
13:04 Not gonna lie, it tripped me the F out when your hand disappeared behind the screen... that's when I realized that the graphics were never on the monitor at all, they were an overlay. Very tricky man, very tricky.
Hey Chase! You da bomb! Thought you should know 😂
