@@frozensunset issues like this are caused by poor parenting most of the time. Dont blame the people, especially dont blame them for trying to improve the way they live.

The only thing I'd do different is keep the sauce in the jar. No point opening it when it can sit in a cupboard.

Where I live, it's quite uncommon for people in my socioeconomic class to have a freezer but I splurged way out so that I could have a fridge that also had a freezer exactly for this. It most recently came in handy when I had surgery but no help around the house. I was able to get up, throw my frozen goodies into a pan, and lay back down while it simmered. I had to make sacrifices in other areas of my household to afford my freezer - I have no upholstered chair or television - but it has really helped me maintain a quality of life.

Imagine you had this guy as your dad, every day of your childhood would be filled with smiles and laughter even in the teen years

It's surprising how many meals you can freeze. I freeze Sheppard's Pie, lasagna, chili, rice, risotto, soup. I freeze it all in individual portions so it's ready to go whenever

I also sometimes make one meal strech to the next. I make a meatball ragu in more quantity so I have lots of leftovers. I reduce the sauce and make a meat ball sub for lunch. I sometimes add the leftover meatball sub to a hot wok and toss cooked rice through it to make a sort of tomato pilaf.

Dude 😬 that's not how you cook! Just cooking everything together later will not taste. Why not cook it properly with proper techniques and then freeze them as readily cooked dishes? It will not take much longer, and even shorter later when you take it out from the freezer, as you just have to warm it up.
