I love this. When my grandmother passed away there was no one left to pass these things on. I love that you are teaching the next generation 💕

This is the same thing with me. 4 years ago my grandmother passed and since I have been learning of our culture and taken it very deeply to heart with me❤❤
thank you for sharing this. when i was younger i grew up in a racist town and as a result dealt with so much internalized racism and rejected my culture. i struggled with so much identity issues and only at 19 did i start to unlearn settler ideology and embrace my culture and heritage. i hope to learn how to dance in this next year so that when powwows return in 2021 i can join my family on the powwow trail and make my ancestors proud

Yes come join the powwow circle! There are such amazing people and dancing all weekend at a powwow is the absolute best! We all understand. I grew up in Thunder Bay Ontario. It's so racist too!
Miigwetch, i was adopted into a non indigenous family, and i’m getting regalia from bio family soon and i never knew how this is so helpful i can’t thank you enough
I’m a non-native who is just learning about native heritage. I was invited to my first Pow wow and I have a month until it’s time to celebrate so I’m eager to learn a lot 🥰
I am using this to learn this style of dance. I'm a city Indian here in Socal I work on tv and show us Native people in a positive light. Thank you for sharing this 🙏💙🪶🐀
I haven’t danced fancy shawl in over 2 years. So I wanted to pick it up again during quarantine. This video was really helpful miigwech :)

It's been over 20 years since I've danced. I'm thankful for your video. I needed to brush up
I appreciate you doing this. My daughter like to dance and she learned watching your videos.
I haven’t fancy danced since toddler aged. I dance traditional now and my daughter wants to fancy dance. So happy you made this so I can show her some fancy footwork. Thank you your a blessing.
so glad I’m trying to learn how to dance again. My nana danced fancy shawl she died in 2017 she’d be so proud of me 😕.
Haven't danced since I was 13 and now that I'm 25 I'm starting to bead my own regalia and relearn my fancy shawl dancing thank you so much for your wisdom and support ❤
Jingle dress basics would be amazing !!

I will do my best!
Used to be a jingle dress dancer I used to see all the women dancing shawl and I wanted to do that instead, the way teh shawls moved captivated me now hopefully I can get these down and practice to do it for fun!
thank you for showing younger generations this… alot of us have family that passed or we dont know so we dont get to learn these things.
THANK YOU THANK YOU NEVER TAKE THIS DOWN🙏🙏🙏
Hi, I'm a descendant and I remember dancing when I was a young kid but then I lost my culture as I've grown up but I want to learn more and dance again. Thank you for posting this video as it's really inspiring for me.
Love this! I didn’t have access to Pow Wow dance instructors where I grew up but have always wanted to learn so as I got older I’m always scouring KZread for instruction. I’d love to see a video with all the steps put together in a workout video style or even Pow Wow dance inspired 20 minute workout video that helps get more practice!

Thank you for making these tutorials. Im seventeen and im starting to embrace my culture even more and my tribes(Miwok) number of people being alive is low. I want to have kids and keep my culture alive and dance for everyone that couldn't and can't.
I thank you for your videos. I am a mother to children who are 1/2 Cree / 1/2 ukranian. Their father doesn’t take the time to teach our daughters or do their regalia. I know how important it is to my children to dance fancy. Your videos have given me the ability to teach them so they are ready for pow wows.
Thanks for this! I am an old Native mutt and was denied all this. I'm just getting to learn the Choctaw language now. At least I can do the dancing in my home just to be doing it because. I believe my Native ancestors would be proud that I'm not erasing them like so many of my family did.
I’ve been looking for a tutorial like this for YEARS. Thank you so much ❤️

I haven't danced since I was a preteen I'm now almost 30.. I need to get back into shape to dance
You have a gift of teaching! I am a retired dancer, working on coming out of retirement. Chi miigwech!
This is really going to help me to go dance in front of a school
You are so joyful. My daughter loves learning from your videos thank you!
I love the dance moves but most importantly I admire the meaning behind the moves. Thanks for sharing
I love your dimples. I had a wonderful roommate who was native American. She took me to powwows.
Tansi!!! Ekosi for sharing!! I cant wait to learn from you❤💛🤍🖤
I love this so much! I’ve always wanted to learn 🙏
Yakoke! Thank-you so much for sharing, this is such a wonderful breakdown. I look forward to sharing with our young girls who want to get into Fancy. I laughed when you did the dab, my little siblings love to do that and I had to learn what it was from them. 😂
I love this!!! Got me off the couch right now! Needed that...I’m so out of shape but I needed this! Pidamaya
Awe I'm from Nipigon Ontario, small world eh. I danced for the first time in 13 years (since granny passed) last September. Was so emotional and felt amazing to get back out there. My shawl doesn't fit anymore so just went in my Ribbon skirt but want to do shawl again. I want to thank you for sharing this with us. Chi miigwetch 💗 howah did some of your moves nearly killed myself 😂 powwow not for another month and a half so I got time to practice
Thank you so much for sharing this. Also love your humor 💜❤️💜
I really appreciate this video. I would watch the dancers and tried to mimicking them but have always wanted to learn the moves. I was too scared to ask as I was raised outside of my native family due to an absent parent
The calf raises esp with your feet apart remind me of when i did ballet as a kid We always did loads of them in warmup. Theyre especially good when you do them in "second position" where you have your feet pointing to the sides and have them like in your warmup where you sit down. Jusy sit down and push back up like that and its a stretch and a full leg muscle workout I love to learn about other people and history through craft, dance and cooking And so far i really enjoy your videos because dancing, and experiencing that form of expression really makes me connect with a part of a different culture and gain understanding Thank you so much for making them. I hope many native people will see them and get inspired
I'm 12 years old and I've been watching you videos for quite a while, and all thanks to you I know how to powow dance 🤍
What a good vibes. 😁 I play soccer⚽️. and for training always have to warm up with some similar thecnic's. Just like her is showing! Thanks(: 👍
Great! This is the way; Practise and progress.
I was listening to some AC/DC (not my fav band, but it was on the radio) and i could see powwow dancing there.
🧓 I'll just take it easy I'm older I can cheat a little 🤣 the sound of the drums tickle my feet ❤️ luv your moccasins.
Oh my gosh this helps so much! I never really knew how to dance so I kinda taught myself and this helps so much more 🖤
Thank you, I appreciate this! It's hard to find videos for those of us wanting to learn! Looking forward to more!
Thank you for taking your time to make these videos to share. As a disenfranchised first nations and avid dancer, my white parents put me in ballet not really knowing what to do with me. I am rediscovering my native dance and your videos are very helpful as I transition my body movements to something more natural for me like the fancy shawl dance moves. You brought back memories of my ballet teachers recommending calf lifting throughout the day, and how you do it waiting for the bus!! subscribed!!

Get it girl 🙌🏾❤️
It's been YEARS since I've danced lol, last time I was around 14, I'm 24 now😭. I've forgotten how much I missed and loved dancing and how close it makes me feel to not only my tribe but our history. I'm starting to learn again, tbh I'm kind of embarrassed I forgot so much, but thank you so much for uploading this video 😊

Sorry for the late reply. I still get nervous at powwows. I wear glasses and when I dance I take them off so I can't see people looking at me lol. It throws me off when I notice people watching me. My trick is don't wear glasses, keep head up and look at the ground, and not to give a crap lol It's like a dance prayer.
Thank you, great break down.
Thanks for this :) I teach ballet lessons to kids and they always ask me questions about the types of dancing I do. I want to do whole dance history lesson based around this and let them try it.👌👌 This type of classical dance doesn't get enough shine in the world :) so I want my class to know better lol. I have fond memories of learning fancy shawl dance at a community center in my home town ^^
i’m watching you from thunder bay! i’ll be doing those calf raises :) thank you for this
Learning how to fancy dance during COVID-19! Hopefully I can learn by once powwows start again 🤩

I’ve never danced any dance in my life so I’m trying these for the first time today and the only one I can do is the backwards 7 in the air but only with my left foot as a base 😂😅 I’ve got a lot of work to do 😅
